Last year I did the 4 Day Inca Trail solo with Inkayni Peru Tours and I was very happy with the experience. This year I did the 7 day Salkantay Trek and Inca Trail Tour with three other friends. That is three days visting the Humantay lake and then over the Salkantay pass at 16000 feet, and then the standard 4 day Inca Trail. Inkayni is a local, small company and the service was amazing as usual. Paul the tour guide was incredible, as was the chef and all the porters. Paul was extremely knowledgeable, taught us a lot, was able to answer any question we had, kept us on schedule, and made sure we were safe. I will definitely be taking more tours from the company, but after visiting Machu Picchu three times I probably won't be returning there for a while. The hiking was very challenging at times but doable. It is very important to think about every item you take, and only take what you need. Most of the time the scenery was stunning and constantly changing. December is a summer month in Peru and it is the rainy season there so you need to be prepared to sometimes hike in the rain, but at night on a clear night the stars are impressive.
We were blown away with the service and attention to detail from the entire Inkayni crew. We didn’t have to worry about anything, it was all handled at the highest professional level. Our guide, Alex, was absolutely excellent…informative, helpful, great English. We couldn’t have found a better guide. Our cook, Valerio, on the 4 day trek, along with all the porters, were outstanding. The meals were u expectedly excellent. I’m so glad we went with Inkayni instead of one of the large group outfitters.
My wife and I did the 8 day package with a 4 day/3 night hike to Machu Picchu along the Inca Trail. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough—it was the experience of a lifetime. Our guide, Freddy, was amazing in his depth and breadth of knowledge. He was incredibly personable, and more than happy to share his culture and history with us. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with him, and we are so grateful for the experience Inkayni cultivated. We researched a lot of other companies, but Inkayni stood out because it is local—they are smaller, but it was to our benefit—we had a much more personalized experience as a result, and grew close with Freddy, Ruben, and their team. If you want a truly authentic travel experience, Inkayni stands head and shoulders above the rest. We were extremely glad that our money would be staying local—many of the larger companies are owned by foreign CEOs. Our group was incredible—chef Ruben and his team of chaskis took great care of us—all of the food was delicious, and we were consistently blown away by the meals Ruben was able to create along the trail. While the trek itself was physically challenging, it was not impossibly so—we were able to complete it with only a little difficulty, while in relatively good health. All in all, the experience of a lifetime, one we’ll gladly remember forever. If you’re at all looking to visit Machu Picchu, I cannot recommend Inkayni and their team highly enough, and I strongly encourage interests travelers to explore their hiking options. The Inca trail is an incredible experience unto itself.
We did 7 days Peru tour with Jonathan and edy. Both of this gentleman are amazing very patient and friendly i highly recommend both ,
Good fun on this tour. It was an incredible journey. A nuisance was the the fact they didn’t mention anything about the expected tip for porters until the day before. It was quite a substantial amount that we hadn’t planned for. Either build that in your price or state it clearly on the advertisement. They seriously need to pay the porters more than just minimum wage instead of relying on tips from customers. The food was amazing, really good flavour and variety. Beautiful sites and scenery along the way.
Dear Peter, thank you for your commentary. We are happy to know that you had good fun during your inca trail to Machupicchu with the company of our guide and all our staff. Regarding the tipping, we will have more care in this point, usually the guide inform about it in the briefing. We hope you come back soon. Kind regards, INAKYNI PERU TOURS.
We booked a small group tour with Inkayni Peru but end up with private tour. In general, the tour was good. There was a miscommunication between Inkayni and the hotel causing no one pick us from Aguas Calientes train station. The itineary was too loose because most of the day tours only last about 7 hours. Since we had plenty of time during our transportation, Will should provide us with more general information about the places we visiting. However, Will was friendly, helpful, passionate and punctual. Will was knowledgeable about Inca culture and history. The accommodations in the package were good and situated in convenient locations. We were lucky to have beautiful weather (sunny but not too hot/cold) during our 8 days stay in Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Puno.
Dear tong, thanks you so much for your commentary. Our guide Will thanks you your review because he feels that he did a good job with you during your visit to Peru, all us wish that you have the best memories of our beautiful country. Hope you come back soon! Warm regards, INKAYNI PERU TOURS.
So much love for Inkayni! We had an amazing guide named Herlin who we now call a friend. He was so helpful, so knowledgeable and cares about his culture so much, always happy to share with our group. We had four people in our group and 9 chaskis who were the best bunch of guys ever. Food was great, tents were great, the Inka trail is phenomenal. Inkayni were really helpful when we were booking and sleeping bags, hiking poles were fab. Hotel we stayed in prior to hike was lovely and we could keep our big packs there whilst we were on the hike. Would highly recommend this tour and my recommendation would be to get to know the guide/s and chaskis however possible because they’re the kindest, hardest working people.
Dear Christine, thank you so much for your commentary and recommendation. We are happy to know that you enjoyed during your tour to Machupicchu with the company of our guide Herlin. Where do I start... One of my long awaited trips to Machu Picchu finally became possible. Thanks to Inkayni Peru tours. Very co-ordinated with pick ups/ drop offs and hotel accommodations . Paul is such an awesome person and best tour guide you could ask for. Very knowledgable about the history and proud of his civilisation. You can see how he loves talking about everthing related to Incas and makes your interested in their part of the world. The hike itself could have not been possible for me if Paul and the whole crew were not there. Pushing you through difficult moments, specially going upto Wami Wanusqa pass, motivating you to take one more step and you realise you are actually very close. The porters and chef carrying your stuff and cooking amazing meals for you 3 times a day, its just amazing how this all is so well organised and you dont feel stressed about anything. Would highly recommend this tour company if visiting Cusco or doing any of the hikes for Machu Picchu. You will sure be in good hands and well taken care of. Goodluck to all.
