The La Perla Naturalist team led us on a wonderful tour of the Amazon. Their excitement to share their regional knowledge was infectious. I was amazed by their ability to recognize all the distinct sounds the different birds and monkeys made. They were even able to “call” monkeys closer to our group! We went out on various trips looking for wildlife and always had success in finding different creatures… from birds to spiders and finally an anaconda! I appreciate that we also had Marco there to support as the ships paramedic. That really made everyone feel safe as we did several nature hikes. The food was also top notch! We had all types of different local cuisine. The chef even mixed things up with Italian and Asian nights! At night before dinner, the staff became musicians and entertained us with local music. They were spectacular! The team at La Perla thought of everything. You will not be disappointed if you choose La Perla for your Amazon tour.
We had a memorable experience on our 7 day 6 night cruise with La Perla. This was actually our first cruise EVER! The boat had everything we needed, private rooms with bathrooms, AC, comfortable common areas, amazing food. We were even able to watch the World Cup games. The crew and guides were amazing. Daniel and Victor were extremely knowledgeable. Their love of the Amazon, the people and the wildlife was evident. They were excited to share this unbelievable place they call home. The crew!! Oh my!! They are VERY talented musicians. They play for us for 3 night! So much fun. So happy we chose La Perla.
We were on a 4-day cruise, and the trip exceeded all of our expectations. The meals were delicious, and the cabin was very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water, and the water pressure was excellent. We ate well and slept comfortably throughout the trip. The service on board was top-notch. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Our room was always well-kept and clean. There were also multiple activities offered throughout the day, which kept the experience exciting and engaging. We saw many birds and monkeys, went piranha fishing, and even had the opportunity to swim in the Amazon River. The naturalist guides were incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. They could identify birds by sound and even mimic their calls, which was amazing to witness. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in the jungle and would highly recommend it. The only thing we wished for was spotting an anaconda!
What a great experience on the la Perla boat, the staff was very friendly, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm. The staff did more than their best to make you feel comfortable and memorable and the naturalists had a lot of knowledge. It is also important that the whole fleet participates in project that supports the nature and the local communities. Great trip with wonderful memories.
We take the 6 Day Tour, it's worth it Take the longest tour. From the reservation the treatment was professional, proactive and friendly. Very friendly crew. With morning and afternoon boat trips, guides Roger and Victor enthusiastically and wisely teach life in the Amazon. With a maximum capacity of 28 passengers the boat is super comfortable. Thanks to the guides we saw many birds, anteaters, monkeys, alligators, sloth, anacondas, alligators and dolphins. We weigh piranhas, wear a shaman, dress communities. We really enjoyed it. The tour exceeded our expectations.
A great boat , with many comforts to travel along the Marañón ,Ucayali and the great Amazon .. we saw diverse flora and fauna .. with excellent guides and crew .. We would have liked to stay a few more days .. we took the 4 day, three night tours .. the most impressive thing is the proximity to the communities living the culture of the river and the possibility to see, hear and feel the flora and fauna life of the Amazon ..
Beautiful experience sailing the rivers of the Amazon. The cruise staff make a difference, they are fun people, attentive to the customer and the guides know a lot. I have mobility problems and they were always attentive to me to get on and off the boats and try to make it as possible. The cabins are small, the bed is huge and rests very well. They have air conditioning. The meals were every day with a different theme and every day we rotated tables and sat with different people, we touched a very nice multiculotural group. The trip can be 7 or 4 days. If you take the 7 back to the port and people go up and down. The only criticism is that they make a closure for people who leave and those of 7 days we live it twice. Don't let it be misunderstood, different rivers are covered. I mean the farewell dinner. It is a very nice way to know the Peruvian Amazon.
After a 4:25 am flight from Lima and then a five hour wait at the Hilton Garden Hotel, we boarded a bus for a 2.5 hour ride to Iquitos where we boarded the boat. Staff was very pleasant. Food was average. Ordering wine with your meal involved someone having to running upstairs. Cabins were small and very basic but comfortable. It was a bit visually jarring when you turn into the hallway of rooms and see what for me are white aluminum, exterior door. The trip involved a number of daily excursions on skiffs which at first felt like a bit of a scam but then the monkeys, sloths, snakes, dolphins and piranha made a number of appearance. The guides were very knowledgeable…and chartty. If they had read the room, they have seen a punch of sweating, exhausted people swatting flies away but just the moment “let’s turn around and watch more pink dolphins.” The despair was palpable. .
We just returned from a cruise on the LaPerla. The size and cleanliness of the boat, the friendly and knowledgeable crew, and the Amazonian experience was all truelly memorable. We visited villages and learned a lot about their cultures/traditions. We were fortunate to see many pink and grey dolphins, sloths, anaconda, boa, bats, many birds, an assortment of monkeys, capybara (at a rescue), turtles, lizards, etc. Our guides were so knowledgeable and passionate of the Amazon and their culture. We learned so much and loved every minute of this Amazon vacation.
Stay away from this company!!! The Amazon is a great thing to see, but please use a different company and a different boat. I booked through Rainforest Cruises and stayed on La Perla. I paid for an upgraded room, they sent me a picture and it looked great. Then when I arrived at the boat I was booked in another smaller room, nothing like the one in the picture. In my opinion it was either a case a blatant false advertising or just plain dishonesty gouging the client. I wrote them about the witch in cabins to a substandard cabin for what I was paying, and now they don't even answer my emails. They just took my money and ran. If you want to visit the Amazon definitely go, but please pick a company that is honest and keeps it word and stay on a boat that is willing to help resolve issues. On the positive side the two naturalists were very good.
