Dies ist ein berühmter Tempel aus dem Film Tomb Raider. Ta Prohm (prasat ta prohm) ist der moderne Name des Tempels in Angkor, Provinz Siem Reap, Kambodscha, der größtenteils im späten 12. und frühen 13. Jahrhundert im Bayon-Stil erbaut wurde und ursprünglich Rajavihara hieß. Etwa einen Kilometer östlich von Angkor Thom und am südlichen Rand des East Baray gelegen, wurde es vom Khmer-König Jayavarman VII. als Kloster und Universität des Mahayana-Buddhismus gegründet. Im Gegensatz zu den meisten Tempeln Angkors befindet sich Ta Prohm im Wesentlichen in demselben Zustand, in dem er gefunden wurde: Die fotogene und atmosphärische Kombination aus Bäumen, die aus den Ruinen wachsen, und der Dschungelumgebung haben ihn zu einem der beliebtesten Tempel Angkors bei Besuchern gemacht. Die UNESCO hat Ta Prohm 1992 in die Liste des Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen.

Der Bayon ist ein reich verzierter Khmertempel in Angkor in Kambodscha. Das Bayon wurde Ende des 12. oder Anfang des 13. Jahrhunderts als Staatstempel des buddhistischen Königs Jayavarman VII. In Mahayana erbaut. Es befindet sich im Zentrum von Jayavarmans Hauptstadt Angkor Thom entsprechend ihren eigenen religiösen Vorlieben. Das markanteste Merkmal des Bayon ist die Vielzahl der ruhigen und lächelnden Steinwände auf den vielen Türmen, die aus der oberen Terrasse herausragen und sich um seinen zentralen Gipfel gruppieren. [3] Der Tempel hat zwei Reliefs, die eine Kombination aus mythologischen, historischen und weltlichen Szenen darstellen. Das Hauptkonservatorium, das japanische Regierungsteam für die Sicherung von Angkor (JSA), hat den Tempel als "den auffälligsten Ausdruck des Barockstils" der Khmer-Architektur bezeichnet, im Gegensatz zum klassischen Stil von Angkor Wat.
Pre Rup war dem hinduistischen Gott Shiva geweiht und befindet sich wahrscheinlich auf einem ehemaligen Shiva-Ashram, der im vorigen Jahrhundert von Yasovarman I. erbaut wurde.[6] Vielleicht stand es im Zentrum einer neuen Hauptstadt, die von Rajendravarman gebaut wurde, mit dem südlichen Deich von East Baray als nördlicher Stadtgrenze, aber nichts von den Wohnhäusern ist erhalten geblieben[6], und diese „östliche Stadthypothese“ von Philippe Stern wurde nie bestätigt durch archäologische Funde.

I and my friend booked a tour for our 1st day in Angkor, to get good understanding of the place, history and specifics. We deeply enjoyed the tour with Mr. Win Sok: it was full of details on history and architecture, he has shown us the best views and paths, last but not least provided us with a good place to have a lunch. Deep thanks to our driver, who moved us smoothly from one place to another! Angkor amused us deeply, we'll continue to discover it in the nearest days and maybe take some other tour for the countryside as well.
We had a tour with Mr Lux ( Nguon Sominea) and we really enjoyed it. What we liked most is: 1. that the guide was very professional and well-educated with excellent command of English 2. Very friendly and with great photographic skills 3. Time management- we’ve managed to visit many things within a good amount of time which is impossible if we were on a group tour. 4. Wet towels with eucalyptus oil - very refreshing and giving a lot of energy 5. The opportunity to dive deeper in the culture since Mr Lux has a very good knowledge in history and culture. Oh my goodness, what an experience! My second trip to Siem Reap, this time I brought my 82yo dad. I re-booked Lux having used him on our last trip. He’s nothing short of amazing. Two days - he adjusted our agenda for what my dad could cope with. He is extremely knowledgeable but doesn’t bombard you with info. Just perfect. We visited the main temples in the Angkor Wat park, also some smaller less-known ones (my faves!). Also visited the Tonle Sap lake. He took us to lovely local places for coffee breaks and lunches. Can’t wait to return. And will definitely be booking Lux again!

What a fantastic day! Upon request our tour was customized with no problem. We had a leivste van and driver and i could not have asked for more. Very reliable. If i ever need a toir or transportation i no longer have to guess. I would highly recommend ss this was my second tour. I will oc course recommend to anyone. It was our second visit to Angkor Wat abd we wanted it to be different. We knew Lux from our previous trip where we did the Siem Reap city tour. We discussed our expectations with him and he proposed a one day tour taking this consideration. Lux is very knowledgeable, friendly and flexible guide. We used Lux and a driver for a tour of the major temples. We did not want to see the sunrise so Lux suggested a sunset to finish, which worked really well for us. Also, we had friends with us that have limited mobility and Lux was able to obtain permission to get our vehicle across the more and right up to Angkor Eat which was "above & beyond" expectations. Consequently, we would very highly recommend Lux and all his knowledge.

This was an excellent tour. Our guide, Heang, was brilliant--encyclopedic memory of Hindu and Buddhist pantheons of gods and iconography, and a passionate way of recounting the myths and philosophies behind them. The vehicle was very comfortable, tour was well paced, with breaks from the hot sun, and Heang was flexible and accomodated to our interests and needs. Highly recommended.
