Of course this depends on who you are. The majority of the trip was spent on transportation. The trains are essentially commuter trains. Not resort trains. Out to Galway from Dublin. Repetitive, pleasant terrain, not notable. Endless green fields, cows, sheep. Not much else. Galway. It's a college town. High percent of population are students. If you are a college person may be OK. Found it unnotable. Cliffs of Mahor, like everything else the majority of your day will be on a bus. We live in an area on the ocean, with Cliffs. So that may be why we were unimpressed. A couple of uneventful days. Train back to Dublin. Which made no sense. Same commuter. Then another commuter train to Killarney. Another shorter train to Cork. Another train back to Dublin. With various busses mixed in. If you like to be on commuter trains. And busses. May be the trip for you. Positives, we loved the Killarney and Cork areas. Great history and much more beautiful. Bottom line. Half pur time, at least spent on mediocre transportation. Not our style. Highlight =The Montenotte Hotel in Cork Incredible views. Location. Could have spent most of trip there. If I did it again. I would fly to Cork (they have flights from Uk) make that the base. Use small transport from there. Maybe a couple of days in Killarney. Just stay in that region. Fly out. Really this was a waste of our time. Flew ten hours to stay on mediocre transport for many more hours.
Thank you for your review. We don't believe you experienced one of our tours, as you are referring to a hotel that we do not use. We also use intercity trains with reserved seats on our tours, which offer free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
Such a lovely country and special thanks to Paul O’Neill for escorting us with humor and knowledge to share. The scenery and sights were great and right amount of time at each stop and got to see so much. At the end of day 3, in Galway, we switched to 3 more different escorts or guides ( Anthony O’Connell, Seamus from Tally Tour ( awesome ) and Brian Scott were also very helpful and of comfort once we no longer had Paul . Thanks for a lovely time.
Dear leem924, Thank you for your 4* review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your tour, and that our hosts enhanced the experience. Sounds like your experience was closer to 5 stars! We hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back again! Kind regards, The Railtours Ireland Team
In the past we've had mixed results with escorted tours, but our "Grand Atlantic Tour' was an outstanding experience all the way around, starting with our intrepid guide, Mr Paul O'Neill and his merry band of drivers. Paul did a fine job of threading the needle between providing us with useful information and not overwhelming us with too much minutiae; like many of the folks we met along the way in Ireland, Paul is a gifted storyteller. The trip was well organized, the pace was moderate, the hotel selections quite comfortable - we would definitely recommend.
Dear crm4094, Thank you very much for your glowing review of our Grand Atlantic tour! We are so glad to hear you had a pleasant experience, and that Paul was a fabulous host. Your kind words have been passed on. We hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back on another one of our tours in the future! Kind regards, The Railtours Ireland Team
Had an awesome trip with Paul as our tour guide! Very knowledgeable with the history of Ireland and had a great sense of humour! Saw a lot in 5 days and enjoyed the trip!

Once in a lifetime trip! Railtours Ireland took care of everything, booking, accommodation and travel! We were so luck to have Peter for the first 3 days of our trip. He helped find me when I got lost on the train 🙃 was an excellent resource of history, education and humor along the way. 10/10! On our last leg , we were fortunate to have met John. A kind soul who took his time with each of us to give us the lay of the land and keeping us laughing. I will never not see Ireland as a teddy bear now 😉. An amazing experience that I would recommend to everyone! The views, experiences, history and food are so dreamy. Loved every minute!

This was an amazing experience with our guide David C. Ireland should hand out phd's in Irish history after this tour, David's knowledge was top tier from history, architecture, shear beauty of the places we went!! Don't pass up this tour because you will regret it. Do the tour first then grab a rental car and explore with all the wonderful information you just acquired!!

This tour is highly recommended! Paul, Andrew and John were all great guides! They communicated well and on time and removed the stress from all the moving parts. We just sat back and were taken care of. All the stops were amazing and beautiful! Thanks for an amazing trip!
Dear donnamZ9833CA, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We will pass on your kind comments to Paul, Andrew and John, who will be delighted to receive such wonderful feedback. We hope to welcome you back with us again in the future. Kind regards, The Railtours Ireland Team
This was our first organized tour and it exceeded our expectations. The logistics were well organized but it was the people that made the experience special. Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful guides made the tour memorable.
The tour was excellent. We were accompanied throughout by an experienced, knowledgeable and interesting guide (Brian). Brian looked after all details throughout the tour, keeping everyone informed and on time. The accommodations were excellent. As for the actual tour, it was great. The pace was about right and there was always something interesting to experience. Brian added great commentary and gave great suggestions about where to eat/shop. Thank you Brian and Railtours Ireland for showing us the beauty of Ireland.
We couldn’t have been more pleased with our tour choice and especially the tour guides. John Todd and Andrew Roach (the Cork Roach) were super friendly, answered all our questions and guided us through an amazingly beautiful country. We were always in good hands even when they passed us off to the Deros Coach Tours in Killarney. Another excellent tour company with wonderful guides. I would (and already have) highly recommend Railtours Ireland for an outstanding experience all the way!
