I keep talking about how epic this Favela tour was. My sister and I booked this tour and were lucky to have Daniel as our tour guide. He was outstanding. He gave us a lot of information about the history of the favelas, fun facts about Rio and much more. This was definitely unlike any other experience I’ve done while traveling.

The tour was super interesting and eye-opening. It was a great opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local community, hear personal stories, and learn about everyday life in the favela. Our guide was excellent and made the experience truly meaningful. I highly recommend this tour!

Going to a favela with a guide is not dangerous in the slittiest. The people are very welcoming and governed by very strict rules which they will not break. It was a great Experience and I’d highly recommend it. Are guide Martin was was very matter of fact which added to the experience!

I'm sad i cant remember my guides name because he was incredible. You can tell he not only cared for the area but talked with locals to give their narrative when giving the tour. Would absolutely recommend this tour when in Medellín!

We took the tour on 08/21/2026, at 8:30 AM, and finished around 12:15 PM. My boyfriend and I went, and at the beginning, we met another couple and an American, so we ended up doing the tour in a small group, with just the five of us and our guide, Kim. Kim was excellent! She lives in Rocinha and managed to explain a lot to us about the history of the community, how it works, and especially about the daily life of those who live there—including several things we would never have imagined. She was also very attentive throughout the tour and made the safety rules very clear: where we could or could not take photos, when it was not allowed to use cell phones or sunglasses, and what precautions we should take in certain areas. At some points, she needed to show the badge and inform how many tourists were with her, which I believe is part of the control and safety of the tour. I never felt insecure. On the contrary, her presence and the way she guided us made me feel very calm throughout the entire journey. We started by riding a motorcycle taxi up to one of the highest parts of Rocinha, where we had a very beautiful view of the city. Then we got to know different places and community projects. We visited Tiane Capoeira, where she and two students showed us a bit of the work they do and we also had the opportunity to interact with them. We also know the Quintal dos Cria, a social project focused on football, in addition to the exhibition of Wark's arts. We also went through a place where one of the region's well-known funk parties takes place and we went down the stairs—which, for those who don't know, are literally some of the "streets" of the community lol. And we also had a very good surprise: we met the beer produced in the favela, which I didn't even know existed! I had the Pilsen and liked it a lot. Overall, I found it a very interesting experience precisely because it wasn't just "visiting a favela," but understanding a bit of the history, culture, and daily life of those who live there. I also found it interesting to notice that the residents seemed quite accustomed to the presence of tourists during the tour, especially since we were accompanied by the guide and following all the instructions. It was an experience I highly recommend for those who want to see a different side of Rio de Janeiro. And a special thanks to Kim, who was an excellent, attentive, and very caring guide for the group!
