Die Tour beginnt auf der Rheinpromenade mit herrlichem Blick auf den Fluss.
Am herrlichen Domplatz, wo wir farbenfrohe, kunstvoll verzierte alte Häuser und den schönen Renaissancebrunnen sehen werden. Wenn wir Glück haben, erleben wir auch den traditionellen Bauernmarkt, der hier immer noch jeden Dienstag, Freitag und Samstag (bis 14 Uhr) stattfindet, wie seit Jahrhunderten.
Vom Marktplatz aus schlendern wir durch die nahe gelegene Altstadt mit ihren romantisch verwinkelten Gassen, mittelalterlichen Fachwerkhäusern und malerischen kleinen Plätzen.
Im Zentrum der Stadt thront seit über tausend Jahren der mächtige Mainzer Dom, eine gewaltige 6-Turm-Anlage erbaut in kostbarem roten Sandstein. Hier wurden Könige gekrönt und die Reformation entfacht. Das prächtige Äußere des Doms präsentiert sich während des Rundgangs über die Domplätze aus immer neuen Blickwinkeln. Da momentan wegen Corona keine Führungen im Inneren erlaubt sind, erhalten Sie einen bebilderten Überblick über wichtige Kunstwerke und können den Innenraum dann im Anschluss eigenständig besichtigen.

The tour of Old Mainz with Judith was absolutely superb! She made the history of the area come alive with her stories of the history, architecture , economic importance of this old city and made us fall in love with Mainz! It was truly the highlight of our time in Germany and would highly recommend her tour to anyone considering visiting this city. Judith is well informed about Mainz and a great communicator. Mainz is a historic German city on the Rhine, famous for being the birthplace of Gutemberg and home to an important museum dedicated to him. With a prominent Romanesque cathedral and vibrant traditions such as Carnival.
This is one of the best tours we have had. Judith was wonderful and it was wonderful to tour with a local. You will no be disappointed to book this tour!

Excellent experience with Judith. She was very knowledgable about Mainz and the history. She showed us around the cathedral and pointed out many interesting facts and showed us many unique features.
