Our overall experience was just okay. It started off by being accosted for not having our Yellowcard which no one told us we needed to bring ours in addition to the "mandatory insurance" Zanzibar makes you pay on arrival. Given this our tour started a bit behind and backwards. Our guide was changed 3 times before the tour began. Instead of going to the spice farm first we did the stone town tour. The information provided was rather basic and not very interesting and the timing was slower than needed. Due to this we didn't have time to actually visit the spice farm as we had to make it back to the ferry by 3pm. Overall, the first time to visit Zanzibar was a little rough and we will do more research before selecting a tour.
Thank you for the feedback We would like to let you know our duty was to make you enjoy the tour, not working as an emigration center. you told nothing and we knew nothing about you coming to the country without yellow card, or did not have mandatory insurance, it is not our responsibility to make sure you come to the country with all required documents, our was to provide the service quality of the tour, we are not immigration center, we are tour company, although we tried to help you getting in the country you did not say any single word of thank for our efforts, not even appreciated, also you had a limited time for the tour making everything on a rush, this also not our mistake, we offer this tour in a specific hours, and you saw them before booking, so why you wanted everything on a rush, about the guide, we gave you one guide for the day, only one, and we trusted him, and was really helpful. To be honest we are very disappointed with little appreciation and responsibility
We had a great time yesterday day (09Aug2026)... Saleh picked us up from the hotel and our guide Lukeman (not sure of the spelling) is an excellent tourguide. He was very friendly and explained everything so well. He gave us an amazing experience. Lunchtime was marvelous, the food was delicious. Finally, the spice tour was entertaining.... 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Luqman and Idrissa were both very hospitable and knowledgeable. The spice farm was a lovely stop and if you are there ask for Maryam as your guide - her English is impeccable. Lovely tour all round finished with a wonderful local Tanzanian lunch
Our guide, Lukman, was exceptional from start to finish. He communicated with us well before the trip and arranged convenient pick-up and drop-off from Nungwi, making everything seamless. On the way to Stone Town, Lukman shared fascinating insights into the history of Zanzibar and Tanzania, as well as the Swahili language. We learned so much about the island’s culture, religion, the slave trade, and the rich history of Stone Town. He also gave us plenty of time to explore and shop, and was flexible enough to let us visit the Freddie Mercury Museum, even though it wasn’t part of the original itinerary. The visit to the spice farm was another highlight. We had a fantastic time tasting and identifying different spices, drinking fresh coconut water, and watching someone expertly climb a coconut tree. There were also plenty of opportunities to buy high-quality local spices and souvenirs. We ended the day with an incredible lunch at a local restaurant that we never would have found on our own. It was the perfect way to finish a memorable experience. We highly recommend Lukman to anyone visiting Zanzibar. His knowledge, flexibility, and warm personality made this one of the highlights of our trip.
Thank you very much Oliver It was really nice to meet you and did a tour with you I wish you all the best with the rest of your vacation 😊
Our guide Lukman and driver Saleh were the best! We loved Stone Town and Lukman sure knows his history. My friend fell down and they were both so great. They took us to an emergency clinic where my friend was treated for some pretty bad scrapes, called the hotel to let the know we were on our way back and made sure we were returned safely. While we did not get finish the tour we were so impressed by the kindness and compassion these two young men showed. They are a credit to their tour company and deserve a raise!
Thank you very much Cajun It was really nice to meet you and did a tour with you I wish you all the best with the rest of your vacation 😊
We had an excellent day, everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. The tour of Stone Town was very interesting and our guide was able to share many explanations while remaining attentive to our wishes. The meal in the jungle was a real moment of relaxation, in a magnificent setting, with delicious cuisine. The visit to the spice farm was also very pleasant. We discovered many local spices and fruits in a friendly atmosphere. Everything went perfectly, with a professional, attentive, and always smiling team. We recommend this excursion without hesitation!
Thank you very much Gregoire It was really nice to meet you and did a tour with you I wish you all the best with the rest of your vacation 😊
Our family of 4, 2 kids aged 12 & 15 and 2 adults, visited in July. The Stonetown tour was informative, the slave museum was interesting - we only saw the slave holding rooms, our guide advised he had given us the basic info that was in the museum on the panels so we didn’t need to visit inside. The shopping part was not something we were expecting, so we didn’t have enough cash on us. I should have read more reviews to be aware of this. The spice farm tour was informative. The spice farm workers were friendly, we enjoyed the demonstration by the coconut tree climber. You’ll have an opportunity to buy soaps and salves, but they do not take card, you will need cash. We did not go to the spice shop as our customs are strict on spices being brought home (Australia) so we didn’t want to risk loosing them to customs on our journey home. Lunch was delicious. Our guide told us what the dishes were, but there was no explanation of how they were made or cooking process, or anything about the family cooking for us. Lukman was our guide. He was professional, but quiet. Our car rides were almost silent. Our driver, Idrisa, was punctual and the car was very clean. He also helped us find an ATM on the drive back to our hotel which was much appreciated. Also, be sure to bring your own water; we went from a 9:00 AM pickup until a 1:30 PM lunch without any drinks on a hot day.
Thank you very much Tamy It was really nice to meet you and did a tour with you I wish you all the best with the rest of your vacation 😊
Our experience at the Spice Farm was amazing! The knowledgeable tour guide and natives were very engaging! Our knowledge as a group of spices were challenged and out of a score of 1 to 10, we were about a seven...LOL. We highly recommend this excursion to all who are staying in Zanzibar. Also, the prices are great and we cannot wait to make one of our favorite dishes using these great spices.
I actually could not make it because my flight delay meant I'd have arrived in Zanzibar well after the tour had started. Kudos to Yazan tours for their understanding in issuing a full refund, and Yasser the guide for his advice on how to go about it.
Thank you very much Yee, looking forward to see you oneday in a future
Highly recommend Lukman for a Stone Town and spice farm tour! We spent the day with him and learned so much — he's genuinely knowledgeable about the history, culture, and the spices, and he explains everything clearly and with real passion. What stood out most was how attentive he was to us: never rushed, always happy to stop for photos or wait while we browsed the shops, and patient with all our questions. The Zanzibari lunch was outstanding, easily one of the food highlights of our trip. If you want a guide who actually cares about giving you a great experience, Lukman is your man. Asante sana, Lukman!
Thank you Marco Welcome again
