Damian was a brilliant tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable about the sites and Polish history in general. Would recommend.
Project Riese was interesting. However the audio guides in English were quite poor, it only covered the basics, the Polish guide was giving the others a much more in depth talk on Polish. The trip only visits Complex Osówka, underground. The Ksiaz Castle didn't include the grounds or the tunnels. The castle tour was good however and the.self guided audio tour worked well. Other than that, had a good time.
Really enjoyed Project Riese/Osowka, Ksiaz Castle Private Tour with tour guide named Marcin. Picked up from our hotel will be prearranged, picked up at 830am. You drive 1:15 to Project Riese, then 30 mins to Ksiaz, and if there's time left over on the way back it seems from other reviews you go visit a 3rd location- an ancient Lutheran church that is an appealing quick stop too. Most tour guides can have a "D" level knowledge of their city and no one would notice. Marcin has A+ knowledge on fine details like you wouldnt believe. Not just on the tour guide topics, but of the entire area of Wroclaw historically, politically, business, culture, perspectives on the future and how it's changing, really a well-read educated guide that has his finger on the pulse of everything. Osowka/Project Riese you are dropped off and taken by the specific Tour Guides employed by that foundation, and that was awesome. Tour guide there was named Maks, who is 1 of the 6 caretakers and researchers of the facility. He was A+ as well, particularly once you're able to ask off-the record questions for insight. Dress WARM for this, it's probably close to 14 Celsius, 45 F while you're in the cave. Lasts 1:15. Guide buys the tickets for this and Ksiaz Castle himself (has a operator deal). You'd only pay extra for a 3rd stop as you'll see below. Ksiaz Castle you get a tour of surrounding scenic overlook spots and then 2.5 hrs once you're inside close to 1pm, you can eat in their restaurant but I'd recommend bringing own food. Castle is walking from room to room and seeing the very pretty grounds that surround it. Note: extra cost to visit the gardens and we were already behind on time. Climate controlled. Way back is 1.5 hrs so we had extra time and we were offered and taken to visit an ancient Lutheran Church that has great history. 12 euro per person ticket cost. Youll spend 30-40 mins there inside the church and grounds. Ancient church, impressive inside no matter your denomination. It was interesting, 7,000 seat church made entirely of wood from the 1400s. Then you get dropped off around 530pm.
Awesome trip and an amazing driver. The communication leading up to the trip was also outstanding. I highly recommend this company and tour.
Besides the tour starting at 9:30 not the printed 8:30 it was absolutely terrific. The driver was excellent, his English terrific and he bought the tickets for Project Riese and got me the headset because the tour was in Polish. It was fascinating. He arranged my lunch before the tour too. Then we went to KSIAZ Castle and again walked me in and arranged my headset. There you walk around yourself with the audio guide. The drive was magnificent and I enjoyed the day thoroughly.
Very worthwhile trip. We were staying in Wrocław and the pickup/communication was excellent. Our operator kept things clear (very good since the street we stayed in had limited access). Zamek Książ in Wałbrzych was an amazing sight to see in and out. The grounds are lovely. From there to the caverns was another little drive but great views on the way. Caverns was an approx. 1 hr tour and very intriguing. Wear good walking shoes and even if summer, bring a jacket for the caverns portion as it gets chilly. I brought my mom and siblings (all adults) and everyone enjoyed. Great nature and museum sightings. Very recommended sights and excellent guide/transportation!
My wife and I took this trip, and it ended up just being the two of us. Our guide, Michael, picked us up on time and pointed out interesting facts along the way. Both sites were interesting for history buffs and spurred my interest to read more about both places. We had a very good day seeing two interesting and important sites in Silesia.
This tour was fantastic. Ksiaz castle is very impressive and it’s full of history, from when it was built, right through to the Nazi takeover. Maksymilian Hall will leave you speechless, we were lucky to have this room to ourselves. Project Riese is very educational but also very harrowing, I recommend taking a torch for extra visibility in the tunnels. The food at Project Riese was pretty good too and very reasonably priced. Our guide Michal was great, he is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. Thanks Michal.
Micheal is a very knowledgeable and speaks excellent English. He was very amicable to add the Protestant Church to the end of the tour. We truly enjoyed a meal with him to continue the discussion on the Ksaiz Castle and Project Riese. It is a full day event. The Restrauracja at the ticket office serves outstanding traditional Polish meals with large portions.
