Whale & Dolphin Watching Trincomalee

Pickup and return trip went smoothly. The whale and dolphin watching was more of a whale and dolphin hunt. There were an insane number of speedboats on the sea. The poor animals! Our boatman was very considerate about that and did not race after every animal. We still saw a great many dolphins and a whale. It remains a dilemma: you want to see the animals, but not under these circumstances...

An absolutely magical experience and a highlight of our trip! They picked us up directly from our hotel’s beach, and both men who took us out were warm, attentive, and incredibly sharp-eyed. They served us fresh fruit during the quieter moments and were quick to point out exactly where to look. We especially appreciated that they didn’t simply follow the other boats, often staying away from the pack and anticipating where the wildlife might appear. We saw hundreds of dolphins and a beautiful whale breach — my first time ever seeing a whale. A moment I will never forget. Highly recommend!

It was such a great experience from beginning to end. Nice life saving boat to bring us to the awesome catamaran, smooth departure, lots of dolphins, a few fin whales - we were lucky to see some ! - , delicious food, Captain and staff so well-meaning, happy workers, caring, fun swimming, snorkeling and diving from the boat deck, enjoyable peaceful sailing moment. I’ll definitely tell about it to my friends and family ! Also met some nice people enjoying the trip too, was a nice surprise !

Our tour guides were very mindful of the dolphins' health and did not chase after every dolphin like other boats that were out that day. We were well provided with snacks and drinks, and the pickup took place right in front of our hotel. Very beautiful morning 🐬

Despite the fact that we did not see whales, this was a nice experience. We had some nice experiences with dolphins, and the trip was arranged even though it was only our group of 4 people who participated. It was therefore more to describe as an exclusive private 8 hour cruise for our part. The crew were very friendly and breakfast and lunch that were part of the package were very tasty. The ordering process with follow-up until attendance was very good. We are very happy that we booked tour where there was set of time for snorkeling after the boat trip. The area for snorkeling/water activities was along the cliffs south of Dutch Bay. It can of course not be compared to a coral reef, but a lot of exciting fish and relatively clear water. The trip is highly recommended. The boat (catamaran) was excellent for the purpose and safety felt well taken care of. Some tips for improvements: There was a lot of wind and therefore a little sea that day. Maybe it should have been informed that these were bad conditions, so that the trip might be postponed. From our knowledge, we realized that there was little likelihood of seeing whales under these conditions. But we got the boat for ourselves and had it excellent. Maybe the crew could also be more guides; told which dolphins we saw, which whales that tend to be there, told a little more about the surroundings, etc. Overall; very good.

Overall , not a very good experience. Iinstructins for pick up was inaccurate. We were picked up by a small boat at the beach. The entire trip was just two hours, the guy was in such a rush to get back. We were at our hotel by 8sh. I appreciate there’s no guarantee when it comes to wildlife. But when you pay for a trip you expect some effort.

Amazing experience! So well organized and was beautiful. They also have wonderful suggestions for the rest of my trip. Highly recommend!!!

We have not seen whales, but it is due to the season and not to organizers. Staff as always, very friendly and helpful. Bit much I found the extra charge for picking up hotel. About twice as much as if you had taken a tuk tuk yourself. I don't think it's good to make money here again. Have seen many dolphins, very impressive.

We were picked up from our accommodation, which was a little further away, by a tuk-tuk. We therefore agreed a pick-up fee with the organiser, which was totally fair. This was solely due to our accommodation and normally the pick-up service in the surrounding area is included in the price. When we arrived, we got straight into the motorboat, we were the only ones as it is a private tour. The two drivers were super friendly and as soon as something was in sight, they accelerated to get close to it quickly. We saw lots of dolphins in our immediate vicinity very early on. And luckily for us, we even saw a whale. As the other tours were probably not so successful, they were contacted by our guide and also travelled to our spot. I have to say, we had great guides. When we were back near the coast, we had bananas, delicious biscuits and water. I can highly recommend the tour. We came without any expectations and saw more than we thought we would. Of course, it always depends on how lucky you are ;)

Dolphin and whale watching experience. It was an excellent trip. Very safe and very good crew. Mr Vanam is such a nice person and his crew member Dinesh was very kind and sensitive. We enjoyed the long ride and were lucky enough to spot a few dolphins! No whale though , we can come back at a later time in the year to spot whales. Will stay in touch with you.
