Denne VIP Shared Shore Excursion til Rom byder på en afhentning og drop-off ved kajen, en professionel engelsktalende chauffør og maksimalt 8 passagerer. Efter 80 minutters kørsel fra molen begynder du din tur til Den Evige Stad.
To tusind års fascinerende historie bliver levende ved Colosseum, den antikke romerske arena, hvor Gladiator-kampene fandt sted. Colosseum er en fantastisk ingeniørmæssig bedrift og et vidnesbyrd om ingeniørkunsten i det antikke Rom.
Konstantinbuen er en af flere triumfbuer i det antikke Rom, der sidder på pladsen lige uden for Colosseum. Dens placering var betydelig i oldtiden, og forbinder området ved Forum Romanum med de store underholdnings- og offentlige badekomplekser i det centrale Rom.
Circus Maximus var det største stadion i det antikke Rom, berømt for stridsvognsløb (husker du filmen "Ben Hur"?) En aflang, elliptisk bane med en central ø, Circus Maximus kunne rumme 250.000 mennesker, en fjerdedel af Roms befolkning i oldtidens gange.
Arkæologiske fund viser, at Palatinerhøjen var beboet så langt tilbage som det tiende århundrede f.Kr., men dens storhedsdage var på det romerske imperiums tid, da dette dybest set var Roms Beverly Hills. Den romerske adel havde deres hjem her, inklusive kejseren, som kunne se stridsvognsløbene fra sit palads.
Capitoline Hill er den mindste og vigtigste af de syv bakker i det antikke Rom. Som Roms politiske og religiøse hjerte blev Capitoline Hill et symbol på Roms regeringstid som Caput Mundi, verdens hovedstad. I dag kan vi værdsætte den elegante piazza designet af Michelangelo under renæssancen. Fra bagsiden af bakken kan du nyde en utrolig udsigt over Forum Romanum.
Officielt kendt som Monumento Nazionale en Vittorio Emanuele II, er det enorme hvide marmormonument, der dominerer Piazza Venezia, bygget som en hyldest til den første konge i et forenede Italien, Victor Emmanuel II.
Bygget for mere end 1800 år siden, den storslåede Pantheon står stadig som en påmindelse om det store romerske imperium. Navnet Pantheon henviser til bygningens oprindelige funktion som et tempel for alle guderne. Strukturen er berømt for sin smukke kasse, et fantastisk og mystisk værk af arkitektur og teknik, med en gigantisk oculus i midten. VENLIG NOTE: At se Pantheon fra ydersiden er gratis. Tro det eller ej, Trevi-fontænen bliver stadig fodret af en gammel akvædukt - Aqua Jomfruen, bygget i 19 f.Kr. Den udførlige barokfontæne af Bernini, et mesterværk af mytiske figurer i travertin, er den mest genkendelige springvand i verden.
Peterskirken ligger på den anden side af Tiberfloden fra Roms historiske centrum. Placeringen er meget symbolsk; dette var stedet, hvor Sankt Peter døde som martyr, og hvor han blev begravet i 64 e.Kr. Den massive kirke, med sin smukke kuppel designet af Michelangelo, rummer mange kunstværker, herunder Michelangelos mest berømte Pietà. Ved dette stop har du tid til at se kirken og piazzaen udefra; vi kommer ikke ind i basilikaen.
Den frodige Janiculum Hill er oversået af monumenter over Garibaldi og hans midlertidige hær, som kæmpede hårde kampe i kampen for italiensk forening på dette sted i 1849. Den italienske helt mindes med et massivt monument på Piazzale Giuseppe Garibaldi, mens hans brasilianskfødte kone, Anita, har sit eget monument omkring 200 m væk på Piazzale Anita Garibaldi. With Rome’s distance from the port, this small group tour is the way to go! We really enjoyed our day with Federico! He was an excellent driver, showing us “alternate routes” (hee-hee) to many places. He was very knowledgeable about all the sites and Rome’s history without overwhelming us with too many facts and details. His recommendation for lunch was fabulous! We highly recommend taking this tour; we are definitely glad we did!

Experience could have been better. Our driver/guide did not offer any history information and/or didn’t communicate about a location/site until we were practically past it. Didn’t realize we missed a few things around the coliseum until we had left because he wasn’t forthcoming with information. Where he took us for lunch was amazing. Then we were only supposed to be at St. Paul’s cathedral for an hour, he said 2 hours. We didn’t want to wait 2 hours as we just wanted a pic outside, had no interest in going in, but the other group with us did. So, we took and paid for a taxi to take us back to port. Next time we do a tour like this, we will do it with just our group. We spent more time today waiting for the other people in our van than we were at some sites. For what we paid, should have been more accommodating for both groups. This was supposed to be a highlights tour, not a detailed tour of sites.

We would like to clarify that the service you booked was a Shared Small Group Tour, which follows a fixed itinerary and schedule designed to accommodate all guests in the group. For this reason, the route, stops, and timing cannot be customized according to one individual traveler’s preferences. As described in the service details, our English-speaking driver provides live commentary onboard during transit between stops. While the driver is not a licensed walking guide and therefore cannot accompany guests on foot at each site, they do provide clear instructions and orientation before guests explore independently. Regarding the stop at St. Peter’s Basilica, the timing at each location may vary slightly depending on traffic, group pace, and operational conditions on the day. Since this was a shared experience, the schedule also needed to accommodate the interests of all participants in the vehicle. We understand that shared tours may not be ideal for travelers seeking a more personalized pace or the flexibility to skip certain stops. In that case, a private tour would indeed be the more suitable option, as it allows full customization of the itinerary and timing based solely on your group’s preferences. Great day with Ricardo. He made sure we got to see all of the highlights. Due to passenger van we could get so much closer than in a bus so less walking to the sites. He was knowledgeable and entertaining.

Excellent experience with Riccardo has our driver. He was prompt meeting us at the cruise port and assisted us with our luggage. He gave thought and added special stops to our day in Rome. We were able to experience a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant thanks to his recommendation. Riccardo was very knowledgeable of the area and was able to in close walking distance to all the sites we had requested to see.
