Velkommen til Vestmannaeyjar, også kendt som Westman Islands - The New York Times' valg til et af 2024's bedste rejsesteder! Gør dig klar til en dag fyldt med barsk skønhed, vilde vidundere og uforglemmelige oplevelser. Vi vil udforske Heimaeys bedste, fra den ikoniske elefantklippe til lundespotting ved Stórhöfði-kappen. Dyk ned i lokalhistorien på Eldheimar-museet, gå op ad Eldfell-bjerget for at få episke udsigter, og vend hjem med minder, der varer hele livet! Du vil nyde denne dagstur fra komforten af en 19-sæders minibus, lille gruppe garanteret.

Gør dig klar til en fantastisk rejse til Vestmannaeyjar, de finurlige Vestmanøer! Afgang fra Reykjavík, hop ombord på vores hyggelige 19-personers minibus med vores livlige guide. Efter to timers kørsel når vi Landeyjarhöfn for et hurtigt færgehop til Heimaey, alt sammen på kun 30 minutter. Gør dig klar til en dag fyldt med latter og ø-glæder!
Så snart vi ankommer, gør dig klar til at blive overrasket af den betagende Elephant Rock (Halldórsskora)! Udhugget af basaltklippe under Eldfells vulkanudbrud er det et syn at se. Med sin unikke silhuet, der ligner en elefant, der dypper sin snabel i vandet, er den som naturens helt egen skulpturhave.
Næste på vores eventyr, forbered dig på en fortryllende session med lundekiggeri på Stórhöfði-kappen! Gør dine kameraer klar, for der vil være masser af muligheder for at tage dejlige billeder af disse karismatiske fugle, mens de går rundt i deres daglige fjols. Lundefugle er med deres komiske vral og livlige næb de sande VIP'er (Very Important Puffins) på Vestmanøerne. Med tilnavnet "søpapegøjer" eller nogle gange "havets klovne", tilbringer lunder 8 måneder på havet på jagt efter fisk om vinteren, og vender kun tilbage til landet for at parre sig og rede fra midten af april til august.
Efter vores eventyr for at se lunde, er vores næste stop Eldheimar-museet, der er meget kendt som 'Nordens Pompeji', hvor du vil udforske begivenhederne fra vulkanudbruddet i 1973 og dets varige indvirkning på regionen. Efter dette oplysende besøg tager vi til centrum til en frokostpause (frokostudgifter er ikke inkluderet i turens pris).
Efter frokost fortsætter vores eventyr til Skansinn, der ligger ved havnen og opkaldt efter en historisk fæstning, der engang indtog denne plads. Her vil du opdage Stafkirkjan, en bemærkelsesværdig nordisk 'Viking' trækirke malet i dristige sorte nuancer. Plus, gå ikke glip af den fantastiske udsigt over klipperne, der bevogter Heimaeys havn, og tilbyder en malerisk baggrund for din ø-udforskning.
Dernæst tager vi på en spændende vandretur op ad vulkanen Eldfell, kendt for sit dramatiske udbrud i 1973. Når vi har erobret toppen, skal du forberede dig på at blive blændet af det betagende panorama, der udspiller sig foran dig – en fascinerende udsigt over vidtstrakte lavamarker , den charmerende by, og hele øen spredt ud nedenfor som et patchwork-dyne. Efter vandreturen har du friheden til afslappet at udforske byen eller vælge en fængslende spadseretur gennem de fængslende lavamarker på vej tilbage til havnen. Det er dit valg!
Sidst på eftermiddagen samles vi i havnen for at hoppe ombord på færgen tilbage til fastlandet, hvilket garanterer en rettidig retur til Reykjavik om aftenen. Det er den perfekte finale på en dag spækket med uforglemmelige eventyr på de fortryllende Vestmanøer!

Franklin was our guide and he really made this our favorite tour. Westmann Island is enchanting. We got to see several puffins, had an excellent lunch at Tanginn, visited the beluga whale sanctuary and climbed the dormant volcano Eldfell. Great tour!!
I took the Westman Islands Tour with "Your Day Tours" in July 2025. We had Rebecca as our guide/driver. There were 19 people on our tour. I had a little confusion on the pickup time. My paperwork said pickup was from 8-8:45am, but the driver said pickup starts at 8:45am. So I waited at my bus stop for over an hour. I was picked up at 8:55am. Rebecca was a very fun, energetic and funny guide. You could tell she loved her job and loved showing us what Iceland had to offer on this tour. She was also very informative on what we were seeing on the tour. The big draw for me on this tour was the puffins. I will say the walk/hike to see them was somewhat difficult with the narrow trails zig zagging around puffin nests. I am glad I brought my trekking pole. As a suggestion, the company should note this on "things to bring". The hillside was very steep. Older folks with balance issues, would not be able to do it. Luckily, we had magnificent weather, to make everything easier. If that hillside would have been wet, it would have been extremely difficult to walk. It was a little confusing on where to get the best views of the puffins. At some point, people started to split off and go further down, but I stayed where we first saw some puffins. We also went to the Beluga Whale Museum (admission was not included in tour price). We saw Eldheimer which is the volcanic eruption museum from 1973. That was very interesting. We also hike around the volcanic crater rim of Mt Edfell. We saw Skansinn which is a church gifted to Iceland from Norway. The ferry ride to and from the island was smooth and faster than I expected. It was only about 35-40 minutes each way. The only thing we didn't have time to see was the Elephant Rock. It was mostly because we voted to stay a bit longer at the puffins. Great tour and I'd highly recommend getting to the island.
We had Franklin as our guide and he was wonderful! Funny, informative, and knowledgeable. His love and excitement about all animals was a very endearing quality. He made our day fun and relaxing. This was a great tour, it is a long day but it went fast. We saw a lot-the puffins and Eldheimer Museum were highlights! Would recommend this tour and this company to anyone visiting Iceland.
Great trip! Excellent puffin viewing. We were able to get close enough for spectacular pictures. The volcano hike and museum were also great! Very fun day!
Our guide Franklin is great. He is entertaining and also punctual. We saw the Beluga whales in the Sealife sanctuary but the cost is extra if you want to see it. There were many puffins but less than I expected since they went out to the sea.
Although it rained (typical Icelandic weather) the tour was fantastic. We saw some incredible sights with a couple of cheeky added bits. Our guide Anastasia was brilliant. Interacting with all of us and parting her extensive knowledge of Iceland onto us. Absolutely would take a tour with her again.
