Denne tur handler hovedsageligt om skulpturen af Richard Serra. Den betagende skulptur i Brouq naturreservat i ørkenen. Ras Brouq - en halvø beliggende på Qatars vestkyst - bærer resterne af forhistorisk menneskelig besættelse. De smukke og ikoniske klippeformationer ved Ras Brouq giver et glimt af et forhistorisk landskab. Og ind imellem vil du komme til at se Mushroom Rock Formation, Zekreet Village og Zekreet Fort Ruins.

Zekreet er en landsby i det nordvestlige Qatar. Zekreet-fortet ligger på Qatars vestkyst, 90 km fra Doha. Fortet har et meget karakteristisk layout, der gør det muligt at se de to forskellige faser af byggeriet. Oprindeligt var fortet bygget som en simpel plads uden tårne i hvert hjørne. I en anden fase af udviklingen blev der tilføjet tårne ved de ydre fire hjørner af fortet.
Den internationalt anerkendte kunstner Richard Serra føjer den forbløffende øst-vest/vest-øst-skulptur til ørkenlandskabet og bringer kunst til folket. Øst-vest/vest-øst er blevet et berømt vartegn i Qatar siden installationen i 2014. Denne betagende skulptur i Brouq naturreservat strækker sig over en kilometer og består af fire stålplader, hver over fjorten meter høje.
Du kan også se Zekreet-stranden. Hvor du kan se mange mennesker komme til kitesurfing og parasejlads.
Området skiller sig ud på grund af dets usædvanlige landskab med hvide klipper. Landskabets form og farve er et resultat af erosion af bløde kalkstenslag, mens de vindformede hvide klipper og bizarre geologiske former, som svampeformede bakker, gør området unikt og specielt for Qatar.

An interesting trip out of Doha, with the highlight being Richard Serra's amazing East-West / West-East art installation. It was also worth seeing the striking landscape around Mushroom Rock. All-in-all, we enjoyed our time with our guide Muhammad, who was knowledgeable, polite and patient. We felt in very safe hands.

Excellent half-day tour of Western Qatar that included the Mushroom top rocks, East-West West-East monoliths, Zekreet Fort ruins. We also did a stop at the camel race track for a quick look around. Our guide, Zubair was engaging and well informed about the area and the sites we visited.

This was a last-minute travel decision made after seeing photos of Richard Serra’s land art and the Zekreet rock formations. The tour did not disappoint. Muhammad Yasin did a wonderful job touring us to this fascinating and underappreciated destination.
Driver Muhammad was a great companion as I was his only guest on the tour! It was good to get out of the city and get a feel for the landscape. The mushroom rocks were pretty cool, but it was the Serra monoliths that stole the show. Had a lot of fun with Muhammad taking some quirky photos. A terrific diversion and well worth the effort.
