Vandretur på The Quiet Man Film Locations i Cong

Beskrivelse
The Quiet Man Film Locations Walking Tour er et must for fans af John Wayne-klassikeren, The Quiet Man. Turen inkluderer adgang til The Quiet Man Museum. Besøgende kan klæde sig ud i kostume til billeder og genopførelser. En fantastisk interaktiv oplevelse fuld af gode gamle irske craic. Vandreturen og museets adgang varer cirka 1 time. Turen består af en kort, let spadseretur rundt i landsbyen Cong med stop med få minutters mellemrum ved filmlokationerne.

Cong is a beautiful little town and this tour was perfect! Jerry is a master story teller, blending facts and humor in a way that kept us all engaged. If you come to Ireland, make sure you have a pint of Guinness, listen to some traditional music, and go on this tour!
A must for all Quiet Man fans! This tour was fantastic with an incredibly funny and lovely tour guide, Gerry. There isn’t anything Gerry doesn’t know and he celebrates the village and the film beautifully. It is real value for money and we all thoroughly enjoyed the tour, especially a surprise serenade at the John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara statue on John Wayne’s birthday! Thank you Gerry. We all loved it!
Wonderful and funny. Being a little younger, I have not seen this movie but know of John Wayne. Now I must see the movie and want to learn more about the movie and the characters and actors. Not only that but Cong is a wonderful gem of a community and the time spent there made great memories. Our guide was funny and very enjoyable to listen to.
Great tour and museum. We had a blast seeing all the different filming locations and hearing the stories.
Kathleen was terrific! As a local she really had a passion and knowledge of the area. Thoroughly enjoyed!
It goes rain or shine. Excellent guide. Funny. All outdoors except at the end. Well worth the money.
It was a warm hospitality that makes me feel at home away from home.
The Quiet Man is one of my all time favorite movies. I selected more Ireland tour specifically because we would be staying in Ashford Castle, a brief walk from Cong and the Quiet Man filming sites. I later found out that the tour and museum close in September and was very disappointed. However, I emailed the museum and they responded promptly with an offer of a private tour. No, it wasn’t cheap, but not outrageous. The tour itself was “grand”, as they say in Ireland. I was thrilled to see so many filming sites in addition to the replica cottage and artifacts from the film. Gerry was knowledgeable and charming. If you are also a fan of the film, do this tour! And do contact them in advance if you’re traveling in the off season.
For those of us who appreciate Ford’s masterpiece, this visit is essential. Lisa wrote the guide 12 years and 30 years later, her father, Gerry, continues to bring this exciting experience to life. They are the owners of a museum that houses unique pieces, such as Mary Danaher’s dress, the bed they break at the Thorntons’ house, the fishing rod with which Father Lonergan almost fished for King Salmon or a multitude of newspapers of the time with articles about the shooting. Gerry is a charming man who has memorized every scene and dialogue (invites you to play them), meets and introduces you to the descendants of the extras, with whom you cross the village, takes you to a lot of recognizable corners and tells you a lot of anecdotes. His nephew manages the Cohan pub, which apart from the facade, has nothing to do with the one in the film, but is eaten quite well. YOU CAN'T MISS IT.
This was so fun! I went with a friend who is a big Maureen O'Hara fan- I have only seen this movie once but the tour was enjoyable all the same! The guide was excited about the subject matter and had fun little anecdotes about the cast & crew. Several of the locals are descendants of the people who were involved with the shoot at the time and the town of Cong itself is just adorable. Even the drive out to Cong from Galway was pleasant. This tour ended up being one of the highlights of my trip.
