Under turen bruges undervisningsmateriale og guiden fortæller om sin egen oplevelse, da han er nevø til en tidligere præsident i Bolivia og efterkommer af folk, der blev politisk forfulgt under militærdiktaturerne. Under denne tur vil vi lære om det bolivianske folks kamp, deres tragedier, krige, revolutioner, kærlighed, mod og mange andre aspekter, der prægede det bolivianske samfunds karakter. Vi begynder turen, hvor regerings- og parlamentspaladserne ligger. Hvor vi vil lære en masse om den turbulente historie og politiske aspekter af Bolivia, fra kolonitiden, hvor La Paz tilhørte det spanske imperium til nutiden. Vidste du, at Bolivias regeringspalads blev brændt af lokalbefolkningen? Lær mere ved at deltage i denne tur!
Nu besøger vi Chaco War Memorial, den sidste krig udkæmpet af Bolivia, under dette besøg observerede vi våben, uniformer, fotografier, medaljer og andre genstande, der blev brugt under denne krig. Vidste du, at Bolivia er det latinamerikanske land, der har haft flest internationale krige? (Indtægten er et frivilligt bidrag til mindepersonalet)
Vi besøger den ikoniske heksegade, hvor vi kan tage billeder med vægmalerier og paraplyer på denne turistgade. Under besøget på denne destination lærer vi om indflydelsen, idiosynkrasier og overbevisninger fra de fremherskende oprindelige folk i Andes-regionen i Bolivia, vi lærer også mere om alle de oprindelige nationer i Bolivia. Vidste du, at Bolivia betragtes som et af de mest forskelligartede lande i kulturelle og miljømæssige aspekter?
I Bolivia er vi skøre, nu besøger vi (udefra) et af de farligste fængsler i Latinamerika. (Ja, fængslet ligger midt i byen. På denne destination lærer vi om mange problemer, der plager det moderne bolivianske samfund, såvel som historier uden for konteksten, der skete i dette fængsel.
Vi afslutter turen med at observere Copacabana Hotel, hvor Ernesto "Che" Guevara opholdt sig, da han ankom til Bolivia i 1967. Under dette besøg lærer vi om hans handlinger i Bolivia, etableringen af en guerilla i det østlige Bolivia og indflydelsen fra forskellige politiske strømninger i aktuel boliviansk politik og samfund.
Vi besøgte mindesmærket for demokratiets martyrer, vi besøgte ydersiden af det sted, hvor der i diktaturernes tid blev begået en af de værste forbrydelser. Under dette besøg vil vi lære mere om Bolivias historie i det 20. århundrede, især om æraen med diktaturer, der dybt prægede den bolivianske befolkning. We loved our tour with Shamira! She has a wealth of knowledge about Bolivia’s political and cultural landscape as a native of La Paz. The tour flew by as we walked around at a relaxed pace having great conversations. My favorite part was when she walked us through offerings and rituals done by Bolivians using goods found at the witches market. I would definitely recommend this tour - it was a highlight of our time in La Paz.

A very good overview of the political history of Peru. There were only two of us so we all could ask each other questions about our cultures which was fun!

Nelson really knows his stuff. He took me through the whole political history of Bolivia from the 1800’s onwards. The assassinations the Coups the Wars, the US involvement and the communists. Moving on to the people, the unions and the effect of drugs

It was an informative tour and our guide Nelson was great. At the start of the tour my girlfriend was feeling very sick so we sat at a cafe and he bought some coca leaves for her to feel better. In the tour he explained a lot of history and current political issues in Bolivia, as well as answering any questions we had as we walked around the city.

Overall a very good tour. Our guide was friendly ans showed us around the centre on La Paz. The tour was also not too long which was ideal for us

We were notified by whatsaap of a change of schedule the day before but we were very busy with our trip and could not see it. They say they called us but we didn’t hear the call either, so at the time we had chosen there was no one. They also do not return the money from the tickets, that is; without receiving a reply they consider our tickets lost with the change of timetable. This is disrespect and abuse of the client. They look like Rayanair.

The fascinating and inspiring political history of Bolivia was one of the reasons we came to La Paz. And this was a definite highlight of our stay. Unlike a lot of tourist-aimed tours that just tick off a couple major moments, this was incredibly, dense, well-researched and really explored the whole history of the city and the country — from the revolutionary wars and independence movement, to the recent socialist governments and the turmoil of the last decade. Rodrigo wasn't just super friendly and entertaining but incredibly well-informed and able to answer any follow up questions you might have. A perfect tour for history and politics enthusiasts. Highly recommend!
