Amazing 4x4 tour - the scenery is breathtaking and the tour was VERY well organized! Great driver, good hotels, good food - loved it
Incredible landscapes and especially the Uyuni Salt Flat is exactly as on all the pictures. However, the journey in the jeep on the Bolivian side should not be underestimated (it is very exhausting due to the road conditions in a way hard to imagine beforehand). Hotels are basic as described in the itinerary and can get cold at night.
I have no words to describe how perfect this experience was. I was with the Kantuta tours agency. Our guide was Wilson, and our drivers were Carlos and Andrés. Special thanks and kudos to them ! The tour is perfectly calibrated, we saw a lot of different sites and landscapes everyday, much more than one could imagine beforehand. The sunrise on the Uyuni salt flat on the last day really is the peak of the experience, but the entire tour is worth it. I can only encourage you to do it. Yes the weather was cold (winter time)... but with the right people, everything is enjoyable ! The team was also really helpful with immigration forms when needed, which is a definite plus.
We took the 3D/2N trip. It was so good. I have never seen any landscape that is more beautiful than this. The guide Wilson and the driver Hugo was the highlight of our trip. They were so friendly and funny that made the whole trip so much better. The rooms were quite cold and the food was good most of the days, but it was all worth it with the beautiful landscapes and the amazing guide and driver. Thanks again to Wilson and Hugo. I can only recommend this trip.
The only good thing about this tour was the views. Prepare for no hot water and a very unhealthy diet on your journey. As for requesting an English speaker, I only had an English for part of the tour. The first and last day you won’t have one. As for my last day on this out, the driver abandoned me in San Pedro Atacama. I tried asking for directions to get back to my original location which was Calama, where they picked me up on day one, It was not a round trip for me. Overall, I give the views a 5 star but everything was a 1 star. I would only recommend if you completely understand Spanish, okay with cold showers, and double checking where you will be getting dropped off. If not, I don’t recommend.
To clarify, this tour starts and ends in San Pedro de Atacama; pick-up and drop-off in Calama are not included. English-speaking guide availability is confirmed the day before departure. If unavailable, the amount paid for this service is refunded. Unfortunately, these concerns were not reported to our customer service team during the tour. Had we been contacted, a real member of our team, not a bot, would have provided immediate assistance and worked to resolve the situation.
The views and sites we saw are completely amazing but the logistics and organization of this trip needs room for improvement. To be completely honest I saw many other tour agencies operate the same way on this excursion but I still think it can improve... 1. There was no guide, just a driver and a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser that was running on hopes and dreams taking a group of tourist through the Bolivian desert. I wish there was someone who could answer my questions and teach a little about the culture and the area. 2. Accommodation - no hot water or heater and it was FREEZING. At night it got to - 10 degrees centigrade and the rooms were not properly isolated - I felt it. 3. Food - was ok, edible but not great. I must say that the agency did contact us before hand and made sure that everyone is safe and we all pass the border fine but I would have liked a tip about preparing for the altitude or the cold - that was brutal.
We had a awesome tour with our english speaking guide Daniel (and our driver Berni). He explaint and show us so much. Others we met during our trip had only a spanish speaking driver, which is also the guide. There were not happy. Don't safe the money on the wrong end. Without the english extra guide, it would be only a 3-4 star expierance. Daniel made it to a 5!
Such an incredible time! Most wonderful and thrilling 3 days. Saw the most incredible beautiful scenery. Off the beaten path! Good food and accommodation
Guide-James was great! Very knowledgeable and fun to be around for 3 full days. Well organized and efficient
Wonderful, but challenging. Worth to try it regardless of age group. You’re like on another planet
