While we do operate from multiple pick-up points to make the experience accessible for guests staying in different areas, our intention is always to maximize time spent in active whale-watching zones once everyone is aboard. Whale watching is, of course, dependent on wildlife patterns, and sightings can vary day to day — but your feedback about the balance of transit time versus viewing time is important. Your safety concerns are taken extremely seriously. While transfers by panga are sometimes necessary due to marina and sea conditions, they should always be handled with clear communication, proper safety procedures, assistance from multiple crew members, and appropriate use of life jackets — especially when conditions are less than ideal or when children are involved. It’s clear that this experience did not meet our standards. I personally appreciate you reaching out to me directly that evening, and I’m glad we were able to arrange immediate ground transportation to ensure you returned safely and comfortably. Since this incident, we have reviewed our transfer protocols, reinforced crew procedures, and emphasized that transfers must be adjusted or avoided altogether when conditions are not suitable — particularly for families, seniors, or guests who are uncomfortable with open-water boarding. We completely understand how stressful that situation must have been, especially while traveling, and we genuinely wish her a smooth and full recovery. We would like to clarify that we did respond to your cancellation request. While the booking was already within the non-refundable window according to our clearly stated cancellation policy, we still chose to be understanding of the circumstances and approved a 50% refund as a gesture of goodwill, even though we were not obligated to do so. We did this because we care about our guests and try to be as fair and compassionate as possible. For that reason, we were surprised to see this review stating that there was no response.
