A unique experience, I think one of the best activities I had, Rubén was a fantastic tour guide and we lived with him the true experience of culture in Portugal, the food was incredible, we felt very comfortable with Rubén's service. Thank you Ruben, Alcochete was incredible and very nice.
We had an amazing guide, Reuben. He was a fount of knowledge. Took us on the back streets of Lisbon, a local Portuguese restaurant (we would never found on our own) and the Christ statue of Portugal. We rode the elevator to the top which was a perfect place to take pictures of Lisbon. As we were leaving the statue lit up. It was a highlight of our trip!!!
This trip was exciting, informative and fun, from beginning to end. Our guide Reuben was charming and curteous at all times. He amazed us with his knowledge of the wonderful bridge and the areas we visited. Nothing was too much trouble for him and we felt very special. The meal was a delight in a fabulous setting. We were picked up at our hotel and taken back. All in all, a fabulous day that we would recommend to anyone and would do again. Excellent value for money. Definitely something to do if you are in Lisbon. Thank you.
Wonderful tour! First of all it’s a private tour and we did it at the end of our visit to Portugal, so any questions we wanted to ask about history and culture were answered! The bridges are beautiful and elegant, but gastronomic part of the tour is unbelievable, its relatively small classic Portuguese restaurant, very popular and serving delicious food. My husband and I had a good time!
My wife and I were the first to participate in this tour, and we are beyond pleased with every aspect. First, we must sing the praises of our guide Inês. She is a consummate professional and was a joy to be with. Our goal was to have good food, see a bit of Portugal, and experience a bit of culture. She provided it all without making it feel like a "tour". Leaving Lisbon, we crossed the Vasco de Gama bridge, which holds the distinction of both longest in Portugal and longest in Europe at ~17 km. We moved on to Alcochete to admire the view of the Rio Tejo. While we were there, we decided to grab a bica at a local cafe but the machine was broken. Sadly, we had to have a beer....or two. For lunch, we headed to Montijo. While Inês deserves 10 stars, our lunch destination A Casa do Pescador deserves five of those. The meal was phenomenal. The sardines, octopus, squid, potatoes, roe, cheese, and desert were fresh and perfectly prepared. It was paired beautifully with a Douro white that we finished we gusto. To finish, there was a bit of Beirão and a bica com cheirinho (coffee with a scent). I highly recommend both, but I won't explain the last because it's a pleasant surprise. After lunch, we moved on to the last "official" destination, the lovely Santuário de Cristo Rei. Although it was a holiday, there was no crowd. The view of the 25 Abril Bridge is fantastic either from ground level or from atop the observation platform. We spent some time enjoying the view, chatting, and taking some photos. After a bit, we decided to stop for a "goodbye" beer with Inês. She took us down to Oriente, nearly in the shadow of Expo '98 mascot GIL. Here we had a small beer or three and lost track of time talking and observing the passers-by. Ultimately, we had to end the day and Inês returned us to our hotel full of good food, good beer, and good memories. At the end, it felt as if we'd spent the day with a friend. I have no higher praise than this. If you have the time and opportunity to take this tour, you should do it. If you have the opportunity to take it with Inês, go twice.
