Tolv gamle menneskeskabte huler er blevet opdaget på Ægissíða land af Hella på Islands sydkyst. Fem af dem er nu åbne for offentligheden på vores guidede ture. Det historiske sted er Islands ældste stadig stående arkæologiske rester, nogle mener grotterne til dato endnu længere tilbage end bosættelsen af nordiske vikinger. Underværkerne i Hella-hulerne omfatter gamle kors, væggenavn og udskårne sæder. Mysteriet omgiver hulerne og i århundreder har folk undret sig: Er hulerne kelternes håndværk? Var hulerne et sted for gammel tilbedelse? Grotterne er et historisk landemærke, hvor du vil lære om skjulte hemmeligheder og andre uudtalte historier fra Islands historie. Deltag i en af vores lokale guider for at opdage hemmelighederne i vores huler og opleve Sydens magiske underverden. Grotterne ligger lige ved siden af Route 1 (Ring Road), cirka en times kørsel fra Reykjavik.

We really enjoyed our tour of the caves. It surpassed our expectations. The guide was very knowledgable and entertaining. This place just got started in 2020 and is already something fabulous. It will just get better as time goes on.

The marketing perhaps misrepresents the caves and what you will see. There are multiple man made caves dotting the south coast of Iceland though these were the only we found we could explore. It is interesting to see how they were dug out and learn of the uses of the caves but most of that is in relatively modern times. Which is fine and still very interesting. We enjoyed the tour but it was definitely something that was over promised and under delivered. The Guide was knowledgeable, fun, and helped make this tour more interesting.

The Caves of Hella Tour was amazing. The caves themselves were beautiful, and I was able to get lots of amazing pictures. What I didn’t expect was the amazing and rich history I learned on my tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and the history was very interesting, and we definitely learned things we wouldn’t have online or anywhere else (the good and the bad!) I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about going!!!

Must see caves dug be the first inhabitants of Iceland. Runes and cross carvings in the wall. Gift shop and cafe is excellent and the staff and guide are all fantastic and entertaining.

Our family enjoyed an exceptional tour into the Caves of Hella. We learned about the origins of these man-made caves and the history surrounding them. Our guide, Steve, was knowledgeable, engaging, and had a fun sense of humor! I would highly recommend booking this tour.
