My partner and I went hiking with the Quang Si team on 16 June, and it was a fantastic experience. Unfortunately, while descending the mountain, my partner experienced some knee pain due to a previous injury, but overall the trip was excellent. Hac and Ty were our guides for the day. Hac speaks English fluently and has an impressive knowledge of the jungle, which made the hike both educational and enjoyable. The tour was originally supposed to have 8–10 participants, but we were lucky that day—it ended up being just the two of us, making it feel like a private tour. The team picked us up from our hotel at 8:50 AM. We then drove to the foot of the mountain, stopping along the way to buy some tropical fruits, including mangosteens and rambutans. The mangosteens were incredibly sweet and delicious. Before the hike, the team provided us with mosquito repellent, sunscreen, a walking stick, and two bottles of water each. If you need more water, they are happy to provide it. Hac also guided us through some warm-up exercises and taught us how to properly ascend and descend using the walking stick. He explained how to reduce the risk of slipping or falling and highlighted things to watch out for on the trail, such as spiders and snakes. As June marks the beginning of the rainy season, we encountered a wide variety of mushrooms along the trail—at least ten different types. We also spotted wildflowers and plenty of spiders, though thankfully no snakes. The ascent was interesting and varied, with a combination of regular trails and ladders of different heights. Along the way, we passed a massive banyan tree, a shrine, and several unique rock formations. Reaching the summit was the highlight of the trip. The view was absolutely stunning. From the top, you can see a large portion of Phu Quoc Island, including the old airport, planes taking off and landing, the new airport under construction, the skyline, and even some distant islands. It was truly a picturesque panorama. The descent was a bit more challenging for my partner because of his knee condition. The route was longer, which placed more pressure on his knees. We were originally supposed to swim at Tranh Stream Waterfall, but we decided to skip it. Nevertheless, the stream looked beautiful, with clear water and small fish visible along the way. Tranh Stream is part of a tourist attraction, so the deeper you go into the area, the more visitors you will encounter, many of whom come for picnics. Overall, it was not overly crowded or noisy, and the stream is long enough to find quieter spots. There are also some fun animal statues scattered throughout the grounds. Near the exit of the stream area, there is a restaurant for anyone who wants a meal after the hike, although we did not have the chance to try it. What impressed us most was how flexible and caring the Quang Si team was. Since we skipped part of the itinerary, they voluntarily deducted some money from the tour cost and drove us back to our hotel. After the trip, Si even sent me a message to check on my partner's knee condition. That thoughtful gesture really showed how much he cares about his guests. I would definitely book another tour with Quang Si in the future—perhaps the night wildlife tour, as I would love to see more animals, insects, mushrooms, and wildflowers in their natural habitat. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic hiking experience in Phu Quoc! P/S1: Coincidentally, our snorkeling guide, Windy, turned out to be a friend of Si as well. When I mentioned that we had joined a hiking tour with Quang Si, he immediately recognized him and told us that Si is quite famous for his hiking tours in Phu Quoc! It was a funny and pleasant surprise, and it seems Si has built a great reputation among both locals and visitors alike. P/S2: Hope to see Si in real life
Guide Hac was a really good guide in leading us up the Mt. Along the way, he explained about the trail and the sights along the way. Always ready with answers to all our questions. What an environmentalist he is, telling us conservation and importance of keeping the forest as it is. We've full of admiration for his spirit. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much for the wonderful recommendation! We are thrilled to hear you had such a great time exploring the mountain with Hac. I will definitely pass your kind words along to him. He is deeply passionate about conservation, and knowing that his spirit and dedication to protecting the forest inspired you means the world to our team. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future!
Amazing experience and a must do while you’re in Phu Quoc if you’re up for the challenge! Was picked up straight from my hotel. Tour guide was very knowledgeable of local wildlife and nature. Beautiful views at the top and got to see some (slightly scary) animals in the cave. Exhausted by the end of it, but worth it!
Thank you so much! We are thrilled that our trek was a highlight of your time in Phu Quoc and that the views (and the cave's resident wildlife!) made the challenge worth it. It is definitely an exhausting but rewarding adventure, and I'm glad our guide could share their knowledge of the local nature with you. Hope to welcome you back for another challenge someday!
We had a great day trekking, the guides Si and Den were terrific, highly recommended
Thank you so much for the kind words! It was a real pleasure for Den and me to have you on the trail. We’re thrilled you had a great day exploring the jungle with us. Thank you for the high recommendation, and we hope to see you again for another adventure in the future!
If you are looking for great guides on Phu Quoc I highly recommend Si and Den!!! They have a great sense of humor and are both very knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife. I especially recommend them to biologists or anyone with an interest in ecology. They knew the scientific names to all the plants and animals we saw and pointed out all the edible/medicinal plants. I initially booked the herping tour my second night in Phu Quoc and loved it so much I went on two more tours with them around the island! All the trails/locations they chose were beautiful and I loved snacking on the native edible plants as we hiked. Si specially planned an adventurous route for the Tien Son Dinh trek that included fun obstacles like climbing a banyan tree and sliding back down a tree like a fireman’s pole, which made the trek even more fun and exciting!! Den is also an AMAZING photographer and helped me get the best possible photos of the local wildlife we saw. They took great care to provide delicious Vietnamese food and fresh fruits on each tour. They taught me so much about Vietnamese culture, cuisine and wildlife. You can tell how much Si and Den love their island and they made it feel like home to me too. I even ended up extending my stay just explore more of Phu Quoc and still wish I had stayed longer. They are such kind and genuine people and I truly enjoyed spending time with them! Their tours were the highlight of my time in Phu Quoc and will be yours too!!
Hello Sophia!! Thank you so much for this incredible review! It was such a pleasure having you with us for those three tours. Since you were so active and enthusiastic, I really enjoyed planning that 'special' adventurous route for you—the banyan tree climb is definitely one of my favorite secrets of the trail! Den and I are thrilled that you appreciated the deep dives into the scientific names and medicinal plants. It’s always a treat to guide someone with such a passion for ecology. You are welcome back to our island 'home' anytime—there are still many more hidden spots for us to explore together!
Si convinced with incredible expertise on flora and fauna. Highly recommended, but you should have some physical fitness, at least for the first two kilometers, as it is sometimes steeply uphill. There were snakes, spiders, scorpions and skolopenders to see. Always happy!
Vielen Dank für die super Bewertung! Toll, dass euch die Tour und die Tiersichtungen so gefallen haben. Ihr wart klasse auf den steilen Pfaden! Beste Grüße und hoffentlich bis bald für ein neues Abenteuer.
If you are young (under 30) and generally an active person, you will enjoy this hike. If you are hitting or have reached middle age, you will enjoy this activity if you maintain something of an active lifestyle. Si and Dan were excellent guides on our trek through the forest. The main issue is, is that difficulty is relative to the individual. Even though the description says "all ages" I would not recommend this hike to a person who does not regularly hike or keep an active lifestyle. Personally, I enjoyed most of the jaunt, though got tired at the end with the large-ish stones on the path hurting my tired feet. In addition, there are several extremely steep sections of the hike, some spots where the ground is quite loose and other sections are that are pretty much vertical. As long as you believe in yourself, you can do it 🤣 Overall I recommend this tour, though it is not for everyone. The banh xeo at the end was delicious
Thank you so much for such a detailed and honest review! We really appreciate your perspective on the difficulty levels. You're absolutely right—'all ages' can be subjective, and your advice about staying active is very helpful for future trekkers. We are glad you enjoyed the challenge and the steep sections! I've noted your feedback about the rocky path at the end; those stones can definitely be a test for tired feet. We're happy you stuck with it and enjoyed the Banh Xeo reward! It was a pleasure having you with us.
Excellent experience with a knowledgeable team. A moderate fitness level is a must to enjoy it fully.
Thank you so much for the excellent review! We are glad you enjoyed the experience and appreciated the knowledge our team shared. You made a great point about the fitness level—we want our guests to feel challenged but also have enough energy to really take in the beauty of the jungle. It was a pleasure having you with us!
It was a great experience. The guide was super informative. The trek was easy with some climbing. Waterfall at the end is refreshing. Must dip in water. It’s a little slippery so be careful.
We really appreciate the feedback! It’s wonderful to hear that you found the trek informative and enjoyable. We love showing off the refreshing side of the island at the waterfall, and we’re happy you took the plunge! Thanks for the helpful advice regarding the slippery surfaces—it’s a great tip for future hikers. Safe travels!
Right in the jungle.. Venomous snakes incl.. Fewer animals for more fauna & definitely an action-packed sporting activity. Funny guides
