Attended at dusk in September 2026. I found both observation decks to be quite crowded during my visit, with a constant struggle in order to get close to the window - especially for the price of admission. While when I did get a view it was breathtaking, the crowds were a turn off. There are better alternatives within Tokyo.

Seeing the views at night is truly spectacular. It can be crowded so get there a little early if possible.

Friends recommended Sky Tree as a must do in Tokyo. It was difficult to find the entrance and whilst the view over Tokyo was interesting it was like any other big city view. If you have limited time in Tokyo I would give this a miss and enjoy a more cultural experience in Tokyo.

During our time in Tokyo, we also visited the Tokyo Skytree one afternoon. We booked the combo ticket via the official website for 3,100 yen for adults and 1,300 yen for children up to 11 years old. This gives you access to the observation decks at 350m (Tembo Deck) and 450m (Tembo Galleria). Due to the height of the structure of 634m, it is visible from afar and very impressive. We enjoyed the visit because you have a great view of the city and the sea. Since we also visited the Tokyo Tower, we have a direct comparison of both towers: for us, the Tokyo Tower was a bit more impressive, as it is not quite as high, which allowed us to see more details of the city. If you have enough time, you should definitely visit both towers, as each visit is an experience.

This was a great way to see Tokyo from above. Tickets are affordable and you will just walk around at your own pace. The building has ton of shops and restaurants at normal food court prices, the tickets to the observation tower were very cheap.
