This was the first excursion I booked for our Mediterranean cruise. My friends and I all loved the movie The Godfather and couldn't wait to see the locations in Sicily where the scenes were shot, so this was a no-brainer. This tour did not disappoint. Our guide, Serena, was so much fun from start to finish. While traveling to the town of Savoca, we were treated to a history of Sicily and the local cuisine. Once in Savoca, we saw the bar and the church were the Godfather was shot. We tried the local wine and cookies. The cookies were so good that I brought some back home with me. Our next stop was Taormina. This ancient town was absolutely stunning. We walked around and enjoyed pizza for lunch. This was an enjoyable excursion, and the next time we are in Sicily, we will be booking another trip with Discover Messina.
Fun, intimate and informative this is a must for anyone who is a fan of the Godfather movies or just wants to learn about local places less traveled in the area.
The Tour is a must do if you got to Messina. The provider Discover Messina is the best choice. If you are lucky and have as tour guide Katia and driver Renzo, you have won the power ball. They are the best. Thanks to the joint efforts of Katia and Renzo, the day was one of the best of our vacations. A big 👏👏👏👏 for them
Katia was the best guide. She is super knowledgeable, super nice, and enthusiastic about Sicily. It was, hands down, the best tour we did in Europe. If you love the Godfather and want to learn about and experience Sicily, Katia is the guide for you.

I remember reading The Godfather book when it came out. I was a teen and could not put it down. Every Thanksgiving weekend there was the Godfather movie marathon. I’m a huge fan. I anticipated this excursion more than any other out of my 14 day cruise. It did not disappoint. Our guide Elisa was personable and knowledgeable about all sorts of the movie trivia. I kind of dragged my husband along. He was equally impressed. The time spent in Taormina was also eye opening. Don’t miss the Greek Theatre.
We took the Godfather tour on 6/9. Carmelo and the driver picked us up and dropped us off at the cruise ship terminal. This is very convenient since some of the other excursions we took required taxi rides to and from. This was probably one of the best tours I have ever taken. Carmelo was extremely knowledgeable and engaging, answering just about every question we had. We learned about Sicilian culture and history along the ride and had a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this tour.
Our group of 15 LOVED this tour!! Katia was our guide, and she was amazing and so warm and hospitable! We loved the views from Savoca, and Taormina was so charming! Discover Messina Sicily is the best of the best, and I would recommend them every time!
Great tours and plenty of time to see and do lots of things. Katie was excellent tour guide and very entertaining and had plenty of water and snack stops. She knew the people very well and personally. But the road up very narrow. So if you don’t like heights and then narrow roads you might skip. But overall excellent value for the money!
We had a great day visiting the area where The Godfather was filmed. It was such a pretty, hilly village with 2 churches. Taormina is the perfect place if you want to shop, eat, take pictures or people watch.
