Excellent tour! Emilio D. was a superb guide and Oberlin was a fantastic driver. The itinerary posted on TripAdvisor was accurate. They contacted us via WhatsApp a day before and sent detailed instructions about the van and the driver. We were picked up at our hotel at the appointed time. The van was clean and comfortable. We saw the bridal veil falls in addition to Cola de Caballo because our group was small. Bridal Veil falls was a small but lovely gem. Be sure to wear sturdy walking shoes as we had to navigate down a small rocky pathway. It wasn’t too difficult, but if you have stability issues you might want to skip this part. Cola de Caballo was beautiful and had plenty of tourist shops and snack bars. I recommend bringing cash because most did not take credit cards. We opted to do the boat tour around the La Boca dam, which did cost about $15 (US) extra per couple, and we could pay with card. It was short but very pleasant and gave us a different view of the surrounding mountains. There were restaurants to get snacks and drinks, and they also took cards. Santiago was beautiful. Keep in mind that you will only have one hour, so you will have to choose whether to walk around or to eat. Emilio recommended a restaurant that was very good with traditional food (Las Palomas) and he helped us to explain to the waiter that we wanted to split the check. Las Palomas had delicious food, and we were seated in an open air area with little birds flying around. I found it charming, but if you are nervous about birds, you might prefer to find another restaurant. The driver also made sure to give us umbrellas to walk around as shade because it was much hotter in Santiago than at the other two stops. Overall it was a fantastic way to spend the day, and we were able to see a part of the area that would have otherwise been difficult to reach as a tourist.
This was the perfect way to wrap up our time in Monterrey! Once again, Emilio was an amazing guide—kind, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate about making sure everyone had a great experience. I paid extra for the horse ride to Cola de Caballo, and it was absolutely worth it. I highly recommend adding it if you can! Coming from an island with larger waterfalls, I wasn't expecting to be impressed, but I still appreciated the beauty and peaceful surroundings of this waterfall. The stop at La Boca Dam was nice. We enjoyed feeding the ducks and walking in the water, although I wish there had been an option to stop for some fresh local fish! 😄 One tip for fellow travelers: if you have darker skin or are Black, don't be surprised if people politely ask to take photos with you at the waterfall. It happened to us several times. We found people to be friendly and genuinely curious, and it didn't feel uncomfortable—just something to be aware of if you're not used to that kind of attention. My only suggestion, once again, is to provide complimentary cold bottled water. The heat—especially in Santiago—can be intense, and having water available in the van would make the tour even better. Overall, another fantastic experience. If you're visiting Monterrey, I highly recommend this tour—and if you're lucky enough to get Emilio as your guide, you're in for a great day. Stay hydrated! ☀️💧
Alfredo is a very attentive and helpful guide; he knows perfectly how to make the trip enjoyable and fun.
If you happen to get Abraham as your driver/guide you will have a wonderful day. The waterfall and surrounds are very peaceful and the town of Santiago is quaint and colorful - we enjoyed a lovely lunch at a local restaurant
Beautiful nature trail, completely accessible and easy, very suggestive waterfall. Great driving! Lunch in a typical Mexican restaurant in Santiago.
Excellent experience exploring natural landscapes of Monterrey. Guide Juan knows a lot and is very friendly.
Very, very beautiful! There is a horse carriage option for an extra cost, but it is an easy walk up to the fall. They also have a zip line and bungee jump activity you can do at an extra cost. Lot of snack, drinks and souvenir stands. (All affordable so please don’t try to negotiate when they’re trying to make a living).
Good experience, great tour and highly recommended person that makes the tour comfortable and also very accessible
The weather was perfect! Our guide Francisco picked us up and we were off for the most picturesque tour we have experienced since arriving in Monterrey. Villa de Santiago was a beautiful town with, friendly people, colorful yet authentic houses. The Cola de Caballo waterfalls were breathtaking and we took many photos to reminisce about later. You get to spend time in of both areas which is nice. Francisco made sure we had all the right pictures and gave us plenty of information on the tour. We took time to enjoy every moment. Highly recommend. Thank you for an amazing day!
Fairly easy hike and very beautiful! Our guide, Johnathon, felt like hanging out with a friend and we had a great time! He got snacks and drinks for us too, which was unexpected and appreciated! It was just the 3 of us, which again, we enjoyed that aspect of not bussing in with a bunch of other people. Not sure if that’s normal or not…all in all a great way to spend a good part of the day!
