Our tour guide, Daniela, was extremely knowledgeable and shared countless fascinating historical facts and anecdotes with us. She wisely began the tour in the Palace Cellars, where she vividly explained what Diocletian’s Palace looked like in 305 AD, when the emperor retired and moved there as his summer residence. By the time we finished exploring the cellars, the unbearable cruise-ship crowds had moved on, allowing us to fully appreciate the palace buildings without having to fight our way through hordes of cruise tourists. It made the rest of the tour so much more enjoyable and gave us the chance to truly take in this remarkable historic site. We have already recommended this tour and Daniela to our friends who are currently planning their Croatia vacation.

Our tour guide, Daniela, was absolutely fantastic. She was extremely knowledgeable, shared a multitude of stories and anecdotes with us, and made the history of the Diocletian Palace very easy to digest. She started the tour in the Palace cellars, which are almost perfectly preserved to this day, allowing us to see what the palace looked like in 305 AD. My friend and I recently visited the Palace and had the pleasure of being guided by Joško. Joško was extremely knowledgeable and brought the history of the Palace to life. As a 13th-generation Croatian who lived through the war of the 1990s, he was able to provide both historical facts and personal insights that made the tour especially meaningful. He is a very pleasant, personable, and engaging guide with a genuine passion for the history of the Palace. He explained the story of the Emperor, the construction of the Palace, the materials used, and what daily life was like there centuries ago. He also spoke about the damage the Palace suffered during the war and the efforts made to preserve this remarkable historical site.
