Thoroughly enjoyable! Competent knowledgeable and engaging operators who were thorough and professional. Equipment and safety induction before and during. The hard part was getting the wet suit on but I’m told that’s usually normal. Dolphins followed us for a while. Snorkeling was great and many green turtles some huge and schools of colourful beautiful tropical fish and others. Some big blue star fish too. It was a calm day and after all the rain the water was clearing. I had a great time
Thank you so much for the detailed 5-star review! We can absolutely confirm that the 'wetsuit wiggle' is the hardest part of the day..the rest is pure magic! 🤿 We’re thrilled that you felt safe and well looked after by our team, and how lucky to have dolphins escorting the boat! Getting to see those massive green turtles, schools of fish, and the blue starfish must have been unforgettable. We appreciate the high praise and look forward to welcoming you back for round two!
Amazing! We got to swim so close to the turtles. We were lucky to see two separate pods of dolphins from the boat on the trip back. The boat ride itself was fun also. The tour guides were super friendly, funny and knowledgeable. We also saw wobbegong shark, lots of amazing, colourful fish, stingray. Exceeded expectations of how many turtles we saw and how close we could swim next to them. We will definitely be doing this again!
Thank you so much for the glowing review! We are thrilled that the tour exceeded your expectations. It sounds like you hit the jackpot with the turtle encounters, and seeing two separate pods of dolphins on the way back is definitely the cherry on top! I’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to our guides, they love hearing that their dad jokes and local knowledge made the trip even better. We can't wait to have you back on board for another adventure soon!
Highly recommend a trip with Cooley Eco Adventures! We had an epic time out on the water with the team, Gemma & Lochy. Seen lots of turtles and other wildlife & were in safe hands the whole time! 💫 🐢
Thanks so much for the recommendation, we’re so glad you had an epic time out on the water with us! The crew will be stoked to hear this, and it’s awesome you got to see plenty of turtles and other wildlife along the way. Knowing you felt safe and well looked after means a lot to us. Thanks again for joining us, we’d love to have you back out there again soon!
Such a beautiful day with picturesque views! Gemma and Lachie were so warm and friendly. Would 100% recommend bringing a jumper
We’re so glad you had a beautiful day out there and enjoyed those stunning views, it really is a special spot. The crew will love hearing your kind words! And yes… bringing a jumper is always a good call out on the water. We really appreciate the recommendation and hope to have you back again soon!
Best morning ever.. everything that we were told to experience-happened. Turtles octopus squid fish starfish coral. Snowy and Jemma the operators made it so easy and safe. C u for whale season 😎
We are so glad you had the 'best morning ever!' It sounds like the ocean really put on a show for you - seeing squid and an octopus in one trip is incredible. Snowy and Jemma will be so happy to hear they made you feel safe and well looked after. We’ve already got the boat ready for your return... see you for whale season!
We had the best time today, spotted multiple turtles, at least 2 different types, lots of fish and some were lucky enough to spot an octopus. Plenty of great colour reefs. Staff are 10/10. There is a bit of current to swim against, but if you're an average to good swimmer you'll be fine staff will help you out. Keep in mind it's not an aquarium, I see some comments complaining about the amount of turtles... They're free to roam the whole ocean! The abundance of other sea life should make up for it if you see less. I'll add the boat isn't huge but we own one of these RIBs and they are made to handle rough seas with ease, they're better than a big boat for snorkelling.
Thank you so much for such an incredible review! We’re absolutely stoked to hear you had the best time out there with us and got to see such a great mix of marine life, an octopus is always a special bonus! We also really appreciate you highlighting the conditions and setting those realistic expectations for future guests. You’re so right, this is the wild ocean, and that’s what makes every tour unique and exciting. Some days are busier than others, but there’s always something amazing to experience. And thank you for the kind words about our crew, we’ll be sure to pass that on, they’ll love hearing it! Hope to see you back out on the water again soon :)
What a fun adventure. Super friendly crew and knowledgeable. The waters were choppy, but they couldn't control that. I would highly recommend this tour group.
Thanks for your review! We're so pleased you had a great time with the crew. The ocean conditions can certainly vary but we will only head out if it is safe to do so. We hope to see you back onboard soon!
This experience with Cooly Eco Adventures was absolutely amazing! It was my boyfriend and I’s first time snorkeling in open waters, so we were both quite nervous leading up to the tour. But immediately we were greeted with a friendly, down to earth crew of Snowy, Lachy and Lou. We always felt comfortable and in good hands, with a crew that is clearly experienced and enthusiastic about the amazing marine life! We had so much fun; swimming with a bale of turtles, as well as checking out the vast array of colourful fish and other sea life along the ocean floor! We really respected how much the crew cared about conservation and protecting the turtles around the reserve. It felt like a more grounding experience, being led by a crew that genuinely appreciated the marine life. We cannot recommend this tour enough- it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had :) Thank you to the crew once again for being so awesome and facilitating such a great time!!
Thank you so much for sharing this, we’re really glad your first open-water snorkel felt comfortable and enjoyable from the start. It’s wonderful to hear Snowy, Lachy, and Lou helped you feel at ease and that you loved seeing the turtles and marine life around Cook Island. Caring for the wildlife and the reserve is something we take seriously, so your kind words mean a lot to the whole crew. We truly appreciate the recommendation and hope to welcome you both back out on the water again sometime!
A fantastic trip. Turtles, manta ray, wobbegongs (sharks), octopus, and a gazillion different fish species. A family of dolphins sam beside the boat on the way back. Thanks Connor and Lauchie
Thanks so much for your lovely words! It sounds like you saw it all - wow! What a tour! The Manta Rays are really someything special and we only see them a handful of times each summer. We hope to see you back for whale season!
We booked through Viator, when one of us fell really sick and attempted to cancel before the 24 hour refund guarantee which was stated on the website however it would not go through. We called and messaged eco tours to no response, then contacted Viator directly who sent a refund request which wasn’t responded to until after the period, therefore we were refused a refund. We called Lachie at eco tours who was incredibly rude and dismissive, and refused a refund even after we explained the situation. He moved us to a date that we said had worse weather than another but he told us we were wrong. We spent $70 on a driver out to the location, not until we were almost there did we get a message about it being delayed by an hour, after waiting half an hour, he called us and told us it was cancelled and that we could get the refund after all. We wasted $140 on drivers and a whole morning on a refund we were entitled to initially, in addition to awful customer service - he clearly did not care, was yawning and being condescending, and had no empathy for our situation. Was super unapologetic and made no effort. Finally, we were told the refund was to take 7 days to come through, but was still waiting a week and a half later after MANY follow ups. Awful experience.
Hi Kira, We are sorry to hear about your frustration, but we would like to clarify the facts regarding your booking and the refund process, as there seems to be a significant misunderstanding of how third-party bookings work. The Cancellation Policy: You attempted to cancel within the 24-hour window. As a small business, we strictly adhere to the terms set by Viator. If their website experienced a glitch, that is unfortunately an issue that must be resolved between the customer and the platform. We never received a "refund request" from them during that initial period. The Reschedule: Despite the late notice, we tried to be helpful by rescheduling your tour to Sunday. We do this to ensure guests don’t lose their money. Unfortunately, as a nature-based business, we cannot control the weather. The tour was cancelled for the safety of all guests due to conditions on the day. The Refund Process: It is important to understand that when you book through Viator, they hold your funds. We do not receive payment until after a tour is completed. Therefore, we cannot "send" a refund for money we do not have. We authorized the refund on our end as soon as the weather cancellation occurred, but the actual processing time and communication rests entirely with Viator. Our Business: We are a small, locally-owned operation, not a multinational corporation. We take pride in our tours and our communication. While we understand your morning was disrupted by the weather, we made every effort to accommodate your initial late cancellation and ensure you weren't out of pocket for the tour price. We have fulfilled our obligations by authorizing the refund through the agent you chose to book with. We suggest following up directly with Viator support for any further delays in their banking process.
