We paid for the snorkeling with the whale sharks and sea lions. Unfortunately, the whale sharks had migrated out of the area a few weeks prior to us trip. Cabo excursions offer to refund our money or switch up to the trip with just the sea lions and refund us the difference between the two. We chose to keep the trip and snorkel with the sea lions which was wonderful. However, despite multiple calls and emails with Jenny we were never refunded the difference of the two trips. Beware.
First, we were told that we’d be picked up at 6 AM then the evening before we were told they’d be picking us up at 4:20. Next, when we got there, we discovered that there were no full-size whale sharks, but only juveniles there were no near the size of a full size whale shark.
I thought a 1 on review but the sharks were so amazing they get a 2. The tour itself a zero. Issues: we booked 6am so we could get it done and enjoy our last afternoon in Cabo by the pool. Our pickup was delayed until 8.30am, we waited around on the La Paz pier for an hour for extra people to show up, we waited on the boat for another hour or more while other tours left the area, and somehow managed to be the last boat off the ocean that day, finishing at 4.30pm! 2ndly we paid for max 12, but there were 20 on the boat. 3rdly, the guide had to use a passenger to translate, and their English was average leaving everyone guessing a lot of data. Importantly we were not told that you could go in many times, and got changed to then hear about others going back in 3 more times. Getting back into a cold suit was not going to happen so that was a major let down. All in all, over booked, over crowded boat, and very average communication and time management.
So unorganized. Also did not get what was promised. Driver was nice. Captain and First Mate were rude! It’s a rigorous experience. Jump off the boat. Go now. Swim like crazy. See the sharks tale. Wow! It’s a great experience in a beautiful place with one of nature’s wonderful creations, we just had bad humans involved.
The actual whale shark snorkeling was a big hit. The planning was cumbersome and information about what to expect was lacking or last minute. I would not recommend taking this tri from Cabo San Lucas
Pretty expensive adventure, but my son really wanted this experience and I’m glad I paid extra to be in a small group (9 of us, plus 2 guides). We went on a Monday, late in March; there were plenty of sharks. Julio and Pablo were great - friendly yet professional and very safety conscious. We were lucky we didn’t have to wait to start our 2 hours of allotted time on the water. Some of us opted to snorkel only once so most people entered the water 3 times. I’m 68 years old, am in somewhat decent shape, and do have snorkeling experience. It wasn’t as difficult to keep up with the shark as I thought it might be.
Absolutely amazing experience. We saw many whale sharks and were able to swim with at least 4 or 5, sometimes 2 at the same time. Our guide, Pablo, was fantastic and did an excellent job of explaining all safety precautions and procedures to keep us and the sharks safe in 2 language since our group was mixed Spanish and English speaking. Our driver who picked us up in Cabo San Lucas was also great (I didn’t get his name!) but he picked us up right on time at our hotel, found a great little local breakfast spot for us to get breakfast on the way, and waited for us to eat lunch before heading home in the afternoon. Boat captain was superb as well! Overall just a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Unfortunately I didn’t get any underwater photos (I recommend bringing an underwater camera), but here is a photo of a whale shark at the surface and of our guide in the water with 2 sharks just before we joined him.
I am sorry to say, we had a reservation and the company canceled it. Later we tried again and the reservation went through and I was charged for it. I was waiting at 6 a.m. and no one showed up. I finally found out the trip was canceled even though I was charged for it. It was very difficult to reach the company! They start a tour at 6 am, but don’t answer their phones or messages until over an hour later.
Great! Was very entertaining, fun, knowledgable and caring. We found a schoold of Mobula rays in no time and Sea lions.
Unfortunately, the boat traffic and the water conditions were not conducive to seeing any animals underwater, which we understand. We still got to see a school of Mobula rays, a sea turtle, a large school of fish, and devil rays. Angelo and our captain were great. The speedboat ride on choppy waters was fun, as was jumping into open water with snorkel gear. The only thing I would suggest: Make sure you get a pier number or a boat name from the company in advance. We got dropped off at one location near the Marina. Our driver asked us the name of the pier or the boat. We didn't have that information. We only had the name of the company. Our driver took us to a different location near the Marina. We walked around for 30-45 minutes trying to call and email before receiving a call from our Captain. The driver had been provided by the company.
