This was definitely a must do and the highlight of our visit to Mostar. Why buy jewelry when you can make your own? The experience took just shy of 2 hrs. I made a bracelet and my husband made a pendant to use as a christmas ornament. The end products look very professional. We also loved supporting a local artist.

My wife and I had an awesome time with Denis. He gave us a really good introduction to working with copper and showed us how to use the different tools to create our own designs. We started with a practice piece before moving on to the real thing, which worked really well. I especially enjoyed seeing the chemical treatment of the copper at the end and watching the design come out properly. We were also treated to a Bosnian coffee and shown how to make it authentically, which was a really nice touch. It was just a great way to spend the afternoon, relaxed, creative and quite mindful. We both really enjoyed it and came away with something unique that we’d made ourselves. Definitely recommended if you’re in Mostar.

This was a great activity in Mostar. Particularly on a rainy day. We had a choice of pieces to make and a practice piece to get used to the hammering needed. We also got authentic Bosnian coffee and heard all about the copper history of the town. Would recommend!

This jewelry making workshop was one of my favourite parts of visiting Mostar. Everyone in the studio was so kind and Denis was not only a great teacher, but also lovely to chat with and shared some book recommendations with me (and let me purchase one from the studio—thanks again!) . I would absolutely come back here :)

My friend and I had a blast. The teacher was professional and kind. We learned about the process of coppersmithing and had Bosnian coffee prepared for us. We really enjoyed ourselves and now have jewelry pieces to remind us of the time together.

You don't need to be a tourist to enjoy this class. It is fun, easy, and you get to learn a lot about the copper design process. Any crafter would love it here. When we went, it was just my husband and I. Our guide gave us an overview of the science and art tips involved and then we were free to create. They even gave us a practice strip of metal to develop a little technique before you jump into you actual piece. Our instructor also gave us some Bosnian coffee to sip on. One thing I really appreciated, however, was how much AbrakaBakra honored their lineage of teachers. You can see a consistent chain of teachers and students that goes back before the war. They have a sign that gives that history. It was nice to know this really is a technique that has been local for a long, long time. Pro tip: bring cash. As much as you love your little creation, you are going to really love the art/ jewelry already made in store. We actually had to go back to our hostel to get a few more bucks to cover the pieces we were most in love with. SO worth it :)

It is a bit hidden, but can be found without help; maybe plan a few minutes more time to be on time. The course was really good; apart from me, no one else was there, so I could always ask questions directly. The most important things regarding the process and the workmanship were explained, and I was involved in every step. I had decided on a bracelet, and then the steel stamps were demonstrated directly on a bracelet, and the hammer and striking technique were explained. Then I was allowed to try everything out myself on a piece before I designed my bracelet. If I had had more time, I would have definitely planned much more how it should look. That's how I tested which stamps might cause errors and tended not to use those. There are various symbols, letters, zodiac signs, flowers, geometric shapes, or lines to choose from, so the piece of jewelry might not exist a second time in this way. I am more than satisfied with the result; in the end, the finished bracelet was a surprise for me too, and I was happy about the course and the bracelet all day long. Many thanks to the great host, and I can recommend the experience and the keepsake to anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle in Mostar for 1-2 hours.

We arrived shortly before the class as a walk in to see if there was any availability and were greeted with great hospitality. The instructor was very thorough in his explanation of the process and the history of the craft. The activity takes roughly 2 hours and we were delighted with the bracelets we made.

Wonderful workshop, fun and engaging, absolutely a must experience in Mostar!! We together with another couple all made bracelets and the teacher was super down to earth and helpful, he offered us coffee and tea and explained all the steps in detail!
