So worth getting the perspective of our specific tour guide, Mauricio. Such a greater appreciation for the David, but also prepared us to see the Sistine Chapel in Rome. Skip-the-line is the only way to go!

Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an energetic and fascinating experience beyond just getting a few photos for social media. Mario was a knowledgeable, charismatic, and engaging guide making an effort to learn everyone’s names and involve them in the experience, especially the young ones in the group. We entered the museum at the expected time and began with a view of David and an introduction to Mario’s interesting theories on Michelangelo’s process and deeper meanings in the art. Like the opening paragraph in an essay, this set the tone for the remainder of the tour where we went back to the beginning of the museum and Mario began to illustrate how he’s come to his conclusions. As others have noted, he does mention his written works and that he does other tours but less in an “upsell” manner and more to inform about opportunities to gain more from his in depth research. Given the size of the group and how crowded the museum was, we were each given a radio and earpiece which allowed us to hear Mario no matter where we stood. The tour focuses on the main hall of the museum so, if you want to see the side rooms with paintings and other sculptures, be sure to allot an extra 15-30 minutes. I’m very glad that we booked this tour and I expect we’ll be looking up Mario again on our next visit to this amazing city!

Mario was excellent! He shared background info and details behind Michaelangelo's incredible David and his other "prisoner" sculptures and the Sistine Chapel. This was much much better than an audioguide tour. It was also a plus that we moved into the museum much faster and didnt have to wait in the long lines in the heat. Highly recommend Mario's Skip the Line Guided Tour!
