The instructor was very passive. It is like you have to teach yourself and ask him if you have any issues that is when he’ll respond.

Fantastic tour of the Shiga Kogen area led by our excellent, knowledgeable ski guide, Alastair. Highly recommend him and Ride Shiga.

Ride Shiga was perfect for our family! Centrally located in the Shiga Kogen ski complex with rentals right at the meet point. We had initially booked a 5 hour group lessons for 2 kids in our group but changed to a 4 hour private lesson for about the same price. The company was very flexible and able to accommodate changes the day before. And the instructor was great with our kids! We will definitely book lessons through Ride Shiga again on our next trip.

Enjoyed my 2 hour private ski lesson with George! He gave me valuable tips to help me improve my intermediate skiing techniques and enrich my stay at the Shiga Kogen area!

Had a severe injury- fully tore my ACL, and am unable to walk. Requiring surgery. There was no crash, no accident. It was poor judgment of the Ride Shiga instructors. DONT HIRE THEM. Did a private 1.1 lesson with Ride shiga - Tomas, George for 3h each time. It was my first time ever skiing. 2nd lesson, 2nd run of the day, due to George's poor judgement and lack of familiarity of the slopes (it was his first time in myoko akakura onsen) i was taken up a steeper slope to avoid the crowds and taught j turns. Just the 2nd turn in, I was trying hard to execute the j turn but messed up and landed awkwardly in a split, my skis jammed into the mountain and causing my knees to crack and my ACL tore.i buckled in pain and whined for 5mins. The instructor told me it shouldn't be anything major and I could ski down the slope. After contemplating I decided I needed the ski patrol. I insisted on an ambulance to the hospital, did xrays, mri to discover my ACL missing. I am now unable to walk, am in crutches, need to figure how to return on a long flight home. See a specialist and get rehab for 6 months.

The coach is really patient. As beginners, we were both scared and didn’t understand at first, but Victor kept encouraging us and patiently explained everything. That’s how we managed to overcome our fear and had so much fun! Thank you so much for taking good care of us, we’ll definitely come back next time!

From the initial inquiry to the final confirmation, everything was handled efficiently, making the logistics of the trip much easier to manage. - Excellent Instruction: A huge shout-out to our instructor, Karol. He was fantastic! He was patient, professional, and had a great way of breaking down techniques. 2 days and in total of 6 hours lessons sounds not much and indeed we love to have more time to learn too! -Fun & Progressive Learning: The lessons were the perfect balance of fun and challenge. We had a very progressive learning experience, moving from basic movements to feeling much more confident on the slopes by the end of our time. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to improve their skiing in Shiga Kogen Central. We can’t wait to come back!

We had 5 days of lessons for our two children and two of their friends. They had never been on skis before and George was wonderful with them. He made it fun and the kids progressed beyond belief. Thanks for making their first experience so great. We’d definitely recommend ride Shiga.

We went snowboarding for the first time and did private lessons with Bronte and Ruri - they were both amazing! Really positive people with good instructions. Even as a group of four, they both still managed to give us individual tips to help us get out on the mountains for the rest of the week! One person also did a group skiing lesson with Victor, who was also really nice, patient, and gave encouraging feedback for a first time skiier. To me the biggest MVP was Erin, who was my point of contact for booking and editing lessons. She was so helpful and professional in every single exchange, whether over email or text.
