Communication prior to trip was good. Andre (our guide and company owner) was great. Picked us up as scheduled and made the 8 people on tour feel comfortable. His English is great and he is a wealth of knowledge about Pena Palace a Quinta da Regaleira. He had our tickets and we did lot have to wait in line. Learned a lot about both places. Made reservations for lunch so we could bypass another line. Visiting Sintra is not logistically easy and this is not a trip I would not organize on your own. Well worth it and had a great experience.

When we signed up for “Portuguese For a Day Tours,” we heard it was the best tour company in all of Portugal; but we didn’t know the company would live up to their title and make it a reality for us. The moment our tour guide Filipa Loulé arrived, it was immediately clear to us that we were in good hands. She greeted us like family and cared for us in similar fashion. For the next eight hours–no matter where our six-member group originated–we were Portuguese for a day. Filipa made sure of it. We drove up to Sintra and began our tour at Pena Palace and Regaleira. Due to the microclimates, it was a little cooler at the palace grounds in the morning than it was near our hotel; but, of course, Filipa was prepared with fresh windbreakers for each of us. Andres was absolutely wonderful. He has the perfect personality and temperament to lead a tour. He is obviously passionate about his country and knows all the best places to eat and enjoy Sintra. Choose this team and experience the sites without worrying about tickets or time slots. It really makes a big difference to go with someone who knows how to navigate the village and stay ahead of the crowds!

It was a truly perfect trip with Felipa being an amazing guide. She had us be the first to enter at our first stop with Pena Palace to ourselves for magnificent photos and time to explore. The rest of the visits were equally pleasurable and our guide was very attentive with great recommendations for snacks and lunch. Her knowledge and expertise made this a great experience.

The weather is not in your control but in our case in was perfect. You need to be in decent shape to take the walk up but certainly worth it. Great guide and experience.
