Route of the Sillar, er et enormt stenbrud af søjle (sten af vulkansk oprindelse), der danner spektakulære kløfter, svarende til dem i Petra i Jordan, du kan også se faldhuller og værdsætte måde at udvinde stenene på.

Vores eventyr begynder med afhentning på dit hotel og derefter overførsel til den traditionelle by Yanahuara, meget kendt for sine kvaderstensbuer, en hvid vulkansk sten typisk for kolonial arkitektur i Arequipa. Dette synspunkt giver en enestående udsigt over byen Arequipa. Ligeledes kan vi derfra beundre de tre mest berømte sneklædte bjerge i regionen: Chachani, Pichu Picchu og Misti.
Nær byen Arequipa er et af de mest imponerende naturlandskaber, du kan forestille dig. Det er en skat for Arequipeño-folket, hvorfra den ikoniske sillar (den hvide vulkanske sten, der blev brugt i de koloniale konstruktioner i Arequipa) udvindes. Bygherrerne forklarer deres arbejdsteknikker og anvendelsen af vulkansten på samme sted.
Efter en guidet rundvisning i stenbrudsområdet og observation af denne stens håndværksmæssige arbejde, fortsætter vi vores besøg i slangekløften Culebrillas, der ligger 15 minutter fra Añashuayco stenbruddet, vi begynder vores gåtur på cirka 20 minutter, Culebrillas Det er et imponerende område, der skiller sig ud for sine kurveformede formationer fulde af charme og magi (turen er lidt ujævn), vil vi observere nogle helleristninger imprægneret på kløftens vægge. Vi vil bestige en skråning i cirka 5 minutter. Til sidst vil vi observere Apachetas, stenhøje, der repræsenterer en mystisk tradition for de lokale beboere. Vi går i gang med mobilitet, returen tager cirka 40 minutter at nå byens centrum.

Afhentningen er kun i det historiske centrum, hvis din bolig er langt væk, vil mødestedet være ved døren til katedralen på Plaza de Armas i Arequipa.

Magali was our guide. She did a great job. Be prepared to walk. Could have used more time at the statues/quarry to see all of it. Some of the walk is uphill. Wear closed toe hiking boots or good athletic shoes. Went in June at 9 am slot and it was hot. Sun screen recommended. Mosquitoes at cabrillas are real!! Van ride was good. Definitely a great short day trip!
Very well run tour. The minibus picked us up at around 6 places in the historic district. It was a bit slow because of traffic. First stop at the look-out point. Then the sillar quarry. Lastly the canyon which was the best of the three. As we are seniors and about double the age of the others, the guide and some of the other travelers had to give a steadying hand through the canyon and up the hill at the end, but it was all good. The petroglyphs were a little lackluster. Altogether a good tour, but not a must-do. The guide worked hard to give us all the information in English and Spanish.
Unique experience to visit the sillar quarry
Quiet and very nice walk, with beautiful landscapes on the way, which allow you to see the volcanoes. In Culebrillas guides are very careful and informative. On the Sillar route, there is a brief explanation and each visitor travels the site on account. Both tours are quite worth it and give a great experience, with very nice photos.

Great tour to see the highlights without taking up an entire day. Easy communication and coordination. We loved it. Tour guide was knowledgeable and had one of the most accurate english/spanish translations I’ve heard.

Delivers great information about the city and its sights. While the tour is held, many historical-cultural data are provided and there are moments for beautiful photographic recordings.

This was an inexpensive tour to see 3 areas and observe the quarry from which Arequipa has been built, with good views of the volcanoes and a short walk in a narrow canyon to see some petroglyphs. Sometimes it felt as though we had too long and sometimes felt hurried but i guess that varies with ones interests.

Great experience, with billingual guide, very helpful and fun opportunity to see look out views of the mountains, try queso helado, explore the pillar route and stone carvings as well as the culebrillas petroglyphs and learn a little more about ancient Andean culture. Easy pick up and drop off in plaza del armas
