Det er den største sø af ferskvand i Armenien og en af de største højhøjde søer i verden.
Klosteret består af to kirker, Surp Arakelots (Hellige Apostle) og Surp Astvatsatsin (Hellige Guds Moder), bygget med mørk vulkan sten. Kirken sidder på en bakke, den tilbyder panoramaudsigt over Sevan-søen og de omkringliggende bjerge.
Distriktet har træbalkoner, stenhuse, røde fliser og brostensbelagte gader, hvilket afspejler byens rige arv.
Beliggende i skovene i Dilijan, er klosteret omgivet af rullende grønne bakker, hvilket gør det til et fredeligt tilbagetog. Bygget mellem det 10. og 13. århundrede, er det et vigtigt religiøst og kulturelt center.

Arsen was my tour guide and he was fantastic - great communication and very good knowledge. Was able to help me out with everything and gave very good recommendations. Would definitely recommend him and Tatev tours.
The tour was very convenient to schedule and the itinerary was flexible. The guide was friendly and gave us glimpse of the history of the places we went to and we stopped in between for photos in the beautiful mountain roads. The monastery in Sevan lake had 200 stairs but we have the flexibility to go up or not. Even below the monastery there are souvenir shops, fruit shop, bakeries and restaurant so you can opt to stay down and visit these stores. Overall it was lovely experience the road trip to all the places itself is really good.
