Samurai Spirit halvdagstur i Kagoshima

Katsumoto var med i Hollywood-filmen "The Last Samurai" fra 2003 om Saigo Takamori, en indfødt Kagoshima. Turen vil besøge historiske steder relateret til slutningen af hans liv, hvor han levede med en samurai-ånd indtil slutningen. Ruten starter på toppen af en bakke, hvorfra du kan se hele byen Kagoshima og gå ned til ankomstpunktet i centrum af byen, statuen af Takamori Saigo. Nyd at udforske med vores kyndige lokale guide.

Dette 107 meter høje observatorium ligger i centrum af Kagoshima City. Herfra kan besøgende nyde udsigten over Sakurajima, en aktiv vulkan, og byen. Shiroyama er også et naturligt skattekammer af store kamfertræer, bregner og andre planter, og var stedet for den sidste borgerkrig i Japan, Seinan-krigens voldsomme kamp. Tretten af de 88 statuer af Kobo Daishi (en af de store munke i det 8. århundrede grundlæggeren af Shingon-sekten af buddhismen) blev rejst i 1928, så besøgende til Kagoshima kan opleve en del af de 88 pilgrimsrejser i Shikoku. Besøgende kan se buddhistiske stenstatuer og Jizo-statuer.

Toru was our guide today! He was prompt, friendly, and informative. He gave us an idea of who the Samurai was and the history of the last Samurai! We watched the 2003 movie “The Last Samurai “ before going on the tour which gave some great background insights. It was amazing to see the area and history of Siego-san, Katsumoto.

Excellent tour guide Karin took us by foot around the key sites at Shiroyama Mountain, and explained very thoroughly about the Samurai culture and history embodied by Saigo Takamori. It was very peaceful, personal and extremely enjoyable. We had a great time! Highly recommend.

The experience was very interesting as Kuni guided us into the Samurai spirit of Kagoshima city, by showing us lit of spots where the last samurai lived and died. Kuni is a very kind man and very open to questions and jokes. We had great time with him.
