Vi guider dig gennem Alcantara-dalen med dens flod og kløft, Gurne nedsænket i vild natur, middelalderlandsbyen Castiglione og en kælder med vin- og madsmagning. Alcantara Gorges vil være turens første stop. Det er et sted, hvor den 8000 år lange erosive proces med floden, der flyder over basaltklippen, har skabt en dyb kløft, der danner små strande i bredden. Et sted med særlig naturlig skønhed. På dette sted kan du også gå i flodens lave vand inde i kløften, og være i stand til at beundre de rene formede vægge. Hvis du ikke ønsker at gå ind i floden, så beundre majestæten af disse unikke geologiske strukturer udefra.
Gurne dell'Alcantara er naturlige bassiner dannet gennem erosion af nogle vandfald i klippen. Du vil være i stand til at beundre den frodige fauna og flora og nyde gurglen fra floden og vandfaldene.
Castiglione di Sicilia er en middelalderlandsby, der dominerer Alcantara-dalen. Her tager vi en kort gåtur for at beundre udsigten fra oven nær den meget høje klippe, hvorpå Lauria-slottet og basilikaen San Giacomo er bygget. I Castiglione holder vi også en kort pause i et typisk konditori, hvor vi kan smage den berømte cannoli og hjemmelavede granitas.
I denne vingård, der ligger tusinde meter over havets overflade på Etna, dyrkes druen Nerello Mascalese, og vinfremstillingen udføres. Smagningen involverer præsentation af fem forskellige glas: tre hvidvine og to røde, ledsaget af en typisk frokost. Mad- og vinoplevelsen begynder ved bordet, styret af sommelierens forklaringer. Før eller efter arrangementet vil det være muligt at gå gennem vinmarkerne og besøge området dedikeret til vinfremstilling.

Amazing private tour experience! The wine tasting is the draw. Though our favorite parts were seeing the countryside beforehand. The gorge and natural swimming pools were so cool to see. We would have never to known to go there if it wasn’t for this tour. Giancarlo was a fantastic tour guide! Highly recommend!

This is a really nice day trip! We were picked up at our accommodation even though it is not on the list. It was just our company so we got all the attention and could hear well. The host was great, nice and spoke good English. He was also very helpful, even took us to a big grocery store on the way home. The host also showed herbs, fruits and vegetables growing wild. The wine and charcuterie tray served at the vineyard was very good. We had a wonderful day.

We had good weather, but it would not have been quite as fun without it. We spent a good deal of time outside. The sites were gorgeous and unique, the food and wines were delicious. The winery is a quasi-family run operation with a great spread for lunch. Guides’ English was good and responded to questions. Highly recommended if you want more than climbing Etna.
I like the secret route, exploring and learning the plants and fruits. Friendly and nice introduction of the cities and cleared a lot of Italian myth for me.

My husband and I booked a very last minute tour whilst in resort, we wanted a winery tour/tasting afternoon out and found this option. We got way more than we bargained for and would highly recommend! Communication to confirm plans beforehand was great. We were picked up from our hotel on time and in a clean vehicle. I hadn’t realised but it was a private tour which made it a little more special. A few picturesque stops on the way to some really beautiful natural spots, very informative and friendly. A nice cannoli treat during on of the stops. We were offered the choice of routes to reach the more secluded areas, we opted to do the more adventurous routes but would recommend considering the alternative if health/fitness doesn’t allow. However, if you do choose the more active option, I would recommend trainers instead of flip flops. The last stop was at Patria Vini vineyard, we started with a welcome Prosecco, then on to a tour around the winery followed by a lovely lunch and wine tasting. We were in quite a big group so not that easy to hear at the back but you got to see everything well. For lunch we were put on a private table but big groups could sit together easily. Wine was explained with each course again in fantastic English. Just enough time at the end to have a wander in the shop and purchase some bottles to bring home. We were then driven back to the hotel. All in all I would say it was good value for money, an interesting unique day out, with a fantastic and personable guide.
