We had an absolutely fantastic experience with our tour guide Krista. She was reliable and made us feel welcome from the first moment. Throughout the tour, she shared interesting insights and humorous facts about everyday life in Latvia, which made the tour both educational and entertaining. Her warm personality created a family‑like atmosphere and we liked the opportunity to try a traditional Latvian specialty during the tour. We had enough time to visit both the Palace Rundale with its gardens as well as Bauska Castle, the reason why we chose this tour. She answered every questions and gave us tips for local restaurants and sights. Overall, we felt completely comfortable and well taken care of during the entire trip. Highly recommended!
We took the 7.5-hour tour "Rundale Palace and Bauska Castle" from Riga and were thoroughly impressed. The three of us set off comfortably and relaxed in a well-maintained car with our very nice guide. The drive to Bauska took about an hour and was already a highlight thanks to informative conversations and a bottle of water for each of us. On-site, we had plenty of time (about 1.5 hours). The combination of ruins and rebuilt castle was fascinating. Particularly impressive was the personal tour through the ruins and the climb up the tower – a real wow experience! Afterward, we could explore the castle museum with its beautifully restored living quarters at our own pace. Just ten minutes later, we reached the magnificent Rundāle Palace. After a brief introduction, we used the audio guide to explore the opulent rooms and the beautiful garden. Here too, we had more than enough time. Those who wanted could have a very good lunch at the nearby family-run restaurant. The return trip to Riga was just as pleasant – clean car, friendly guide, and many engaging conversations. Our conclusion: A perfectly organized, very dedicated, and thoroughly successful trip. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour – simply excellent!
Definitely worth seeing. Our guide was friendly and helpful. Loved learning about the history. Would like to see again in spring when the garden is in bloom.
On this trip, besides enjoying and taking advantage of the company and guide of the operator LatviaGem, you have the opportunity to recreate stories of the Middle Ages by visiting Bauska, going on to glamour and royalty in Rundale, and finally concluding with the spiritual on the Hill of Crosses. Recommended to do in a 3 x 1 day, go alone or accompanied!
Very good experience. I had another tour planned (without visiting the hill of the crosses) but it was cancelled and I had the opportunity to make this one. Our guide Viesturs was very encouraging and professional throughout.
