En speciel udflugt specielt lavet til krydstogtsturister, der ønsker at se alt fra den smukke ø Rhodos! - Vi vil se den gamle bydel, Mandraki havn sammen med området, hvor Rhodos engang stod. - Derefter vil du gå gennem Rhodos antikke Akropolis, og du vil se ruinerne af Apollon-templet, du vil også nyde udsigten fra Monte Smith, og du vil tage billeder med hele Det Ægæiske Hav på ryggen. - Derefter fortsætter vi på østkysten af øen og når den hvide landsby Lindos, 50 km væk. - Den dejlige landsby Lindos er en af de mest attraktive og smukke landsbyer på Rhodos beliggende syd for hovedstaden. Det er domineret af en storslået og imponerende akropolis, der ligger på toppen. Du vil have mere end en times ophold til at udforske de smalle gader og besøge den smukke Akropolis på toppen. Vi vil starte vores udflugt med en køretur rundt om murene i den gamle bydel i Rhodos, hvor du kan tage billeder uden for de vigtigste porte. Den største beboede middelalderby i Europa. Det blev bygget i 1300-tallet af ridderne af St. John's orden. Den middelalderlige by Rhodos er opført på UNESCOs liste over verdensarvsteder. A) På grund af en ny trafikforordning er der ingen køretøjer i den gamle bydel - kun fodgængere. Vi kan afslutte turen ved en af de gamle byportaler, så du kan udforske på egen hånd og gå tilbage til skibet. Gåturen fra middelalderbyen til cruise havnen er en nem 5 minutters gåtur. På den måde sparer du tid og penge, da du ikke behøver at betale for chaufførens ventetid. Mandraki havn ligger i den nye del af byen, hvor du vil se nogle meget imponerende monumentale bygninger bygget af italienerne. Her ved havneindløbet menes, at der engang stod den store statue af Rhodos Koloss - et af de syv vidundere i den antikke verden. Vi stopper for billeder af området, og du vil også være i stand til at komme ind og se Bebudelseskirken, som er den mest berømte kirke i Rhodos By. Beliggende nord for Mandraki, den gamle havn i byen, blev denne kirke bygget i 1920'erne, under den italienske besættelse af øen. Bebudelseskirken fejredes den 25. marts med en stor religiøs festival.
Et af de syv vidundere i den antikke verden, Kolossen på Rhodos var en gigantisk statue af guden Helios. Den blev opført af billedhuggeren Chares af Lindos og var under opførelse fra 292 f.Kr. til 280 f.Kr. og blev betragtet som sin tids højeste bygning med en højde på 30 fod. Bygget til minde om den romerske hærs nederlag, som forsøgte at tage kontrol over Rhodos, repræsenterede denne gigantiske statue en mand, der holdt en bue på den ene hånd og en lysfakkel på den anden. Statuen af Colossus blev sat i havnen, med dens to fødder stående på kanterne af indgangen. Skibene ville passere under ham. Men i et område, der er udsat for jordskælv, skete det uundgåelige hurtigt. I 226 f.Kr., kun 56 år efter dens konstruktion, ramte et jordskælv Rhodos, og statuen faldt ned. Statuen knækkede i knæene, faldt ned på jorden og knækkede i gigantiske stykker. En trist afslutning på, hvad der må have været et majestætisk kunstværk.
Nu skal vi videre gennem byen og se mere af den store italienske arkitektur. Vi stopper for billeder også på den nordlige spids af øen, hvor Middelhavet og Det Ægæiske Hav møder hinanden. Derefter kører vi til Monthe Smith Hill, hvor du kan nyde enestående panoramaudsigt over byen og kysten, og også besøge ruinerne af Apollo-templet, det imponerende friluftsgamle stadion og amfiteatret.
Efter anmodning kan du under din tur også holde et stop ved en keramikfabrik. Du vil kunne se, hvordan smuk keramik er lavet. Rhodos har en lang historie med keramik, der går mange århundreder tilbage i det mindste til tiden for de gamle byer. Replikaer af design produceret dengang bliver stadig fremstillet i dag sammen med nye moderne designs i en yngre generation.
Lidt før vi når den smukke landsby Lindos vil vi stoppe ved et sted for en panoramaudsigt over landsbyen sammen med dens Akropolis på toppen. Før landsbyen vil vi også besøge den maleriske St. Paul's Bay. Det hævdes, at St. Paul landede her i år 51 e.Kr. for at prædike kristendommen for Rhodianerne. Der er bygget en lille kirke efter hans navn. Vi vil stoppe for billeder for at fange denne fantastiske udsigt.
Du vil have mindst en times ophold for at udforske landsbyen og besøge dens berømte Akropolis. Akropolis i Lindos er den næstmest populære Akropolis i Grækenland efter Parthenon i Athen.
På vej tilbage følger de sidste 14 km / 8 miles af vores rute kystvejen i Faliraki og Kallithea. Faliraki er kun åben i sommersæsonen og er udelukkende designet til at tilbyde besøgende en uforglemmelig ferie. Dens strande er for det meste sandede, med krystalklare vand så glat som glas.
Vi vender tilbage til Rhodos by, passerer gennem Kallithea, et fantastisk naturlandskab, hvor filmen Escape to Athena, med Telly Savalas og Roger Moore, blev filmet. Derudover blev nogle scener fra The Guns of Navarone også skudt her. Når du vender tilbage til Rhodos gamle bydel, kan du nyde uafhængig udforskning eller gå tilbage til skibet (eller dit hotel). Medieval City ligger kun 5 minutters gåtur fra krydstogtshavnen.

We did a private tour with Theo. He was a friendly and knowledgeable host and guide. He walked with us to different areas, made sure we had coffee, water, and even a meal. If you do a tour of Rhodes, having your own driver is the way to go, and Theo is great.

Our driver/guide was Demetrius and he did an incredible job of getting us to unique and beautiful settings! We took a couple of short side trips that were customized to our needs and Demetrius was quick to adapt and informative the way. The trip down to Lindo was beautiful and Demetrius gave us adequate time to tour the town and Acropolis. The stop at the ceramic pottery store was an extra special treat. Meeting the Potter and seeing his incredible work, helped to make the day most special. When we return to Rhodes, we will be certain to ask for Demetrius again! The experience was a 10 out of 10. We loved Rhodes, from the amazing walled medieval Rhodes to the Acropolis of Lindos. We had a nice stop at a Traditional ceramic stop where Giannis showed us is lovely creations. The hike up to the Acropolis was well with it. Wish we would have had a little more time in Lindos city below..

Excellent tour, worth the 40 minute drive to get to Lindos. A magical little town topped off with the acropolis on top. Then a good walk through the old city of Rhodes which is really spectacular. Gianis our driver and guide was basic for a special day. He took us to eat at a good Greek restaurant with local people. Great choice of this tour, recommended 100%

Viator sold an excursion knowing that Lindos was almost completely shut down as it is the off season. only a few shops and no restaurants were open. Paid extra for time for lunch but there was no where to eat. Viator would not issue any refunds. Tour guide should have also known about the situation when he dropped us off in a closed town Very disappointing.

Lindos is a historic village that remains open year-round, including its streets, viewpoints and the Acropolis. However, as with many traditional destinations during the off-season, individual shop and restaurant opening hours may vary and are independently operated. The tour itself was delivered as described, and guests had full access to explore the village and its main attractions. While some establishments were not operating at that specific time, the destination was accessible and dining options were available in Rhodes Town before and after the visit. I understand that you were hoping for more open restaurants in Lindos specifically, and I appreciate you highlighting this. Dimitris is a tremendous guide with a wealth of information, current and historical. He took us to numerous sites and vistas and was extremely flexible about stops. He was able to fill the tour despite my husband's recent injury which limited the distance he could walk.
