Today we went on a whale & dolphin watching tour with Blue Safari Madeira – and what an experience! Our guide explained everything competently and in several languages, so that everyone on board could really take something away. The entire team on board was warm, helpful, and professional through and through. We were particularly impressed by how seriously the respectful treatment of the animals was taken: The rules of conduct for wildlife observation were explained in detail – and, more importantly, consistently followed. No rushing, no harassing the animals, just calm, responsible observation from a respectful distance. Exactly the kind of sustainable wildlife tourism one hopes for. And the sightings were spectacular! We were able to experience several species in the wild: 🐋 Bryde's whale – one of the few baleen whales that live year-round in tropical/subtropical waters, here off Madeira. 🐬 Common bottlenose dolphin – playful and curious, one of the most intelligent animal species of all, fascinating to observe in their behavior in the ocean. 🐬 Atlantic spotted dolphin – fast, acrobatic swimmers that accompanied us for several minutes and even drew attention to themselves next to the boat with small jumps. An afternoon full of awe for nature, completely stress-free for the animals – this is exactly how whale watching should look. The boat was comfortable. Guide knowledgable and spoke English, French, German, Portuguese and Dutch I think? Captain gave a great safe, thrilling ride.
This was a great experience - we saw a pod of dolphins and amazing beaked whales. The small boat meant that we were really close to the water and the whales could come right up to us. The crew were very knowledgeable and passionate and clearly had huge respect for the animals. Really enjoyed it!
Good and energetic team. Camila is a brilliant guide. She really loves these animals - this leaves the very warm feeling. We saw 3 different groups of dolphins, but the whale was too stressed to go up to the surface, so we missed it :( next time
Camilla is a very approachable, passionate and knowledgeable guide. Very good for all levels (adults and children)! The only criticism was that TripAdvisor didn't give great instructions on location. A picture of the nearest location to the dock would have helped.
Wow! What an amazing trip led by Camilla (a marine biologist) and Vlad (our skipper). We saw a pod of female dolphins with their calves and a pair (male and female) of beaked whales. Camilla gave us lots of interesting information about the dolphins and whales - and it was so lovely seeing how excited she (and Vlad) also were when we encountered the animals. Their love of and respect for the animals was clear during the entire trip. They made sure that we were positioned so that the animals could choose to come close to us rather than chasing them - which another boat nearby was doing. Such an amazing and unforgettable experience!

Great experience, lucky to see dolphins and a sperm whale, guides were great and attentive to the well-being of their passengers and especially the animals we were observing. Great weather, calm ocean, no regrets
