Puerto Plata Challenge: Byrundtur og 7 vandfald i Damajagua

We were a group of 8 with ages ranging from 9-64. What a perfect experience! Sailing on the Mardi Gras and we were met in the taxi area by our guide Elian. I recommend you plan to go as early as possible. This will help you beat the ship crowds. The drive thru Puerta Plata was beautiful and Elian provided a running description of the sights. It was quite obvious that he is both proud and knowledgeable of his country. Upon arrival at Damajagua, Elian handled getting us checked in and let us know that he would be waiting when we returned. I highly recommend getting the photo package as this provides you with your own photographer who will help/encourage you on the hike up to the falls. The hike to the falls is no joke. I am an out of shape senior and it was no picnic getting up to the top. I was exhausted by the end but the payoff is worth it. The falls are beautiful and the water was so refreshing! Everyone involved in this experience is incredibly safety focused. They are truly focused on your safety and fun! Upon returning to the base Elian was waiting for us. He offered to take us anywhere we wished but the kids were tired so we just returned to the ship. From port to port was approximately 4 hours. Highly recommended!

My family and I booked the zip line and Demajagua waterfalls excursion through E&J Taxi tours. Jose Alvarez picked us up at the cruise port at the taxi terminal, which was easy to find. Jose was very friendly, drove safely and gave us great info on the area and culture. He set the tour up, introduced us to our guide and kept our backpacks secure while we were on the excursion. The zip line and waterfall tour was well organized (there were many groups doing different excursions and with multiple cruise ship guests everything ran smoothly). We were grouped in with a larger tour and our guides were Felix and Flaco. The trail is a long gradual maintained trail with sitting areas for short breaks. I would recommend wearing water shoes with a thicker sole because there are rocks and roots along the trail and those shoes are helpful at river crossings and waterfalls. The lunch was a locally prepared buffet of delicious food and water was provided throughout the day. Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend booking through E&J Taxi Tours. Great communication, fun experience and Jose A. was an A+ driver and host.

We often rent cars while on port days in the Caribbean. So glad we didn’t here! The drivers are super confident and often don’t follow the rules of the road we are accustomed to in Canada. You can trust E&J to get you places safely and reliably. Excellent service. Highly recommend.

Rating: ⭐☆☆☆☆ I would strongly advise against booking with this company. Our experience was a disorganized mess from start to finish, and we ended up wasting both time and money. The Issues: * Vague Instructions: The confirmation email we received was essentially useless. It provided no driver name, no vehicle description, and—incredibly—didn’t even list the name of the local subcontracting company. * Zero Accountability: We arrived at the designated taxi line and asked multiple drivers if they were our contact. None of them had our names or any record of our booking. * Impossible Communication: Because we had no cell service (which is common for international travelers), we were completely stranded. A reputable tour company should provide a specific meeting point or a clear sign, not expect you to play a guessing game in a busy terminal. After 20 minutes of frustration and getting nowhere, we finally gave up and paid out of pocket for a local taxi just to get to our destination. To make matters worse they sent us a WhatsApp message 58 mins after the meeting time with a picture of the driver next to two other men, we still have no idea who our driver was. They refused to refund us with trip advisor and now we have to fight with the CC company. To be clear NO SERVICE WAS PROVIDED.

Private and safe transport between activities. Our chauffeur did not have enough English or knowledge to be called a guide. Booked the combo tour because I wanted a small guided tour of puerto plata. Not just be shown the three major sights.

I highly recommend Joseph Alvarez. He accommodates to your own need and at your own pace, no rush, no push to buy stuff, just what you want . We went out the schedule to the Little Greece which I highly recommend, no crows, personalize attention just to you and your family.

The service was excellent, with great communication from this family-run business. They provide transportation to the places mentioned, and the communication before the tour was very clear. At the waterfall site, they gave us clear instructions and informed us about possible extras we could add. They are easy to find once you get off the cruise, and their willingness to help is outstanding. The best part was that my friends and I were thrilled with the trip. We had asked to make a quick stop for a drink, and in the rush, we forgot to buy a souvenir from Puerto Plata. At the end, the gentleman surprised us with something, which made the trip truly special, as my friends were collecting local souvenirs. Highly recommended! You can ask them any questions to avoid confusion. Thank you very much, we will definitely return!

Communication in advance always quickly and easily, first via mail, later via WhatsApp. In case of questions or concerns (had to change the day due to route change of the shipping company) promt answered and also everything solved without problems. Younger driver, friendly, friendly and reliable, i.e. on time at the agreed pick-up location. Safe ride in beautiful air-conditioned car to Damajuga Falls. There the driver waited until we got back from the tour. Afterwards we went to Puerto Plata where we visited all the sights ind received a bit of "stories" everywhere. We also took a taste of empanadas. As planned, we returned to the cruise port. A great day - with a reliable company which you can really recommend - that we like to remember.
