Seeing the penguins was amazing. Our tour guide Andrea was friendly, informative and so was our driver. It was wonderful that we were able to stop whenever we wanted to so we could take pictures.
Guillermo was an excellent guide, so knowledgeable and friendly and his English was very good. The rookery was amazing and beautiful. One of our favorite excursions from this trip.
Nico was a great guide - giving us lots of insight and information into the area and Magellan penguins. His timing was also great as we arrived well before the large tour buses and were able to visit with the penguins before the big crowds. This is a great tour and I would highly recommend it.
This tour was very well organized and executed. Guide did a wonderful job of commentary and kept company throughout of the tour. Lots of penguin all over the property. Best was at the end if walk. Trail was mix of boardwalk and gravel but very easy to walk on. So some wheelchair also on the trail.
The ride from the cruise terminal was very long, but not too bad until the very end, when the road is gravel. The rookery is amazing. Although you could see it alone, our guide Nico had a wealth of information about the penguins which made it much more enjoyable. I could have stayed longer, but the travel time makes that difficult. The ride is 2 hours each way.
convenient and far better than those huge bus loads of people...we did it on our time table and the guide was perfect!
I was very well impressed with Puerto Madryn potential for marine life lovers to enjoy. The penguins were a delight but the time was short as I was on a cruise. Next time I will go to stay for some time and go all around to observe the whales, sea lions, etc.
Amazing and very enjoyable trip! Well worth the price. We got there before the crowds and were back in plenty of time before the ship sailed. Our driver spoke english and was able to tell us all about the areas we passed through on our way to Punta Tombo.
If you go to the Valdes Peninsula, you should not miss a visit to the Punta Tombo nature park, the best way to get in touch with thousands of Magellanic penguins. In fact, the visit takes place by crossing 3 km of walkways in the park, but the contact is incredible given that they also turn or cross the walkways regardless of the presence of man. It's an incredible and unique show. Then as in the rest of Patagonia occasionally among the penguins you meet groups of Guanachi . I recommend it to anyone who loves nature.
Five hours in a bus, two and a half each direction, should have a payoff worth the time spent. This wasn't it for us. Bring sunscreen, a head covering and water for the very long, hot trek to the end of the boardwalk. There you'll see the penguins swimming in the distance. Binoculars will help. Otherwise you may see a few penguins up close as they make their way to the welcome shade of the boardwalk. These will be surrounded by tourists taking pictures. In the words of Roseanne Rosannadanna, "I thought I was gonna die!"
