Fantastic tour! Paul customised the tour to match our requirements exactly. The vegan tastings and lunch were perfect. He had friendly contacts at each stop who selected the ideal wines for us. Definitely recommended.

Paul was a fantastic host with great knowledge of both wine and the history of the region and each winery. Swan Valley seems a hidden gem with great wines and Paul highlited its wineries to best effect. I would highly recommend this tour and on the basis of the experience, I believe any tour from this company would be a well curated and valued experience.

We had an absolutely fantastic day with Paul exploring the swan river wine region. He picked us up at our hotel promptly in a spacious and spotlessly clean ford van and we headed out exploring. We visited three different wineries for tastings, focusing on small boutique places with outstanding wines, had a fantastic lunch at a 4th winery overlooking the vineyards and even stopped off to try amazing local honey before finishing at a large chocolate producer. Paul provided lots of great information along the way and was a superb guide. While the swan river is tiny in terms of Australian wine production, the quality and variety were first rate. We have had many guided wine excursions around the globe in Europe, South Africa and South American yet there’s always something new to discover in a new place from the Chenin Blanc to the blends. Highly recommended

As I´ve posted on Google: Paul at Up Close and Local Tours was easy to communicate with, and he was quick to adapt his guided tours to meet my needs. With a two-day (overnight) cruise stop, he met me right off the ship and we visited the beach and park as we moved through Fremantle to Perth. After lunch at a local brewery, we tackled the visites to the four churches I needed to visit and photograph, and then we did a walking tour of Perth with a focus on murals and street art before heading back to the port. The following day, after a light breakfast, we walked around Fremantle, sightseeing the port, old jail, park, and colonial buildings. Then into the comfortable van and off to the Swan River wineries, where I was able to sample at 4 establishments (where Paul was well known as a premier tour guide.) A stop at a distillery on the way back to the ship left me appreciating his guiding skills as well as the safe and careful driving through both country and city. Definitely a premium experience, I can strongly recommend Up Close and Local Tours for a customized, unique exposure to Perth, Fremantle and the wineries of the region.

The tour was definitely our highlight in Perth. Paul was highly knowledgeable and epitomizes the word ‘local’. Through his networks,””We managed to save a ton of time at Caversheim and he was flexible to cater to our needs and requests. We managed to visit the Caversheim park, a winery/brewery, chocolate factory, honey, coffee roaster, and a nuts/nougat shop. Never felt rushed and he guided us throughout. My partner and I had an amazing experience with up close & Personal Tours. Our guide Paul was personable, knowledgeable and passionate about the industry. Our favourite winery was Sittella, with a winery Tour hosted by the wonderful knowledgeable Staff and passionate Winemaker Yuri. Windy Creek was also another humble smaller producer I would commend, they even allow customers to picnic on their beautiful winery estate. Lunch at Nikola Estate was nice with some catered dietary options. Overall a wonderful experience and so lovely to get away from some of the bigger group experiences. This was the first time I've organised a private tour like this and it will not be the last.

The whether on the day was wet and cold. We had a really great day.are guide was really knowledgeable and the vineyards we visited were very friendly. Got to taste some lovely wine. The food we had for lunch at one of the vineyards was very good. We really had an exceptional day

Great day, intimate size group of 5 meant we had personalised experiences at each of the four unique wineries we visited. Our tour guide Shannon was a wonderful host, knowledgeable and passionate about both wine and the Swan Valley region without being overbearing. Each winery was unique and had an interesting story, with lunch at Upper Reach winery restaurant delicious.
