Highly recommended!

We came from Spain. We are sake lovers. We always wanted to visit a sake brewery where we could see the whole process. Mr. Dai is very professional and he loves what he does. He explained the history of sake, and all its processes in great detail. He answered all our questions. The brewery staff was very attentive in everything. Highly recomended.

Best sake tour in Japan

We stayed in Hida ( well worth a two day visit) and the Sake tour and visit of the village with Dai was one of the highlights of our two week tour of Japan. Dai is delightful and fluent in English and he explained life in rural Japan as well as the Sake process and qualifications so well. We now really understand more about rural Japan (amazing) what we love drinking. We were only sad that we did not know he will also take you on a bike tour. If you can- enjoy both as this area is part of the Japanese countryside- similar to riding in Swiss alps. Just gorgeous.

Dear Jonathan, Thank you so much for writing a great review about the sake experience in the pastoral town of Hida. It was a great time with you. I would just like to appreciate your effort to understand sake more. We also provide some bike tours to see around the area. All experiences are made for travelers who want to enjoy the difference from Tokyo or Kyoto. It was nice meeting you and hope we will see again some day in future. Warm Regards, Dai

genuine not touristic tour in the heart of Hida region

Lovely tour in a not touristic place not far from Takayama. The sake brewery is family run so small and genuine with a great atmosphere. It was great to find out more about sake and taste it. Thanks to Dai for great explanations!

Dear Elena, Thanks for coming in the last minute to the sake brewery tour in the non-touristy part of Hida region. It was a great time with you and glad to show you around the area, focusing on the story about sake. It might be difficult to find the best quality sake in your place like the one you had there now but sake is spreading out the world with a big promotion. Someday, you will find the Tenryo sake at the shop nearby your home. Thank you so much again, take care always. Warm Regards, Dai

Wonderful sake brewing experience

My wife set up this tour for me and it was a great experience. It is about a 45 minutes train trip from Takayama so it is a bit out of the way but that was part of what made it so good. Dai was a great guide and spoke excellent English. The tour was at a small sake brewery that had been run by the same family for 9 generations(if I remember correctly). One of the long time employees joined us for the tour so I was able to ask many questions and learned a lot about the sake making process. There is one step in the process that is a secret and we couldn’t go in that room; however, the employee had been there 40 years and he could go in the room either! Would highly recommend this tour for everyone because Dai talked about not only the process but the history of sake brewing so very interesting.

Dear Jeff, Thanks for coming all the way from California to the peaceful countryside town in Japan. It was a definitely great time with you. As you mention, it is worth visiting the place even though we need some time on train. The town is just a rural town with no tourist. It must be a great opportunity for any travelers who want to get away from tourist crowds. Most of sake breweries in Hida region are owned by families but I am sure that the Tenryo is the best because of quality of water they are using. Once people taste their sake, all of them can easily understand the difference. I am so proud of the sake brewery and sake brewed by the family. It was a great chance for me to understand the life in California. Thank you so much for sharing your life story, which was very interesting. Hope your son will be a great man and he will take you back to Japan one day. Warm Regards, Dai

Unforgettable sake tour in hida

The sake tour given by dai enables the foreign tourist to have a real closer view and deep dive into the process of how a great local sake was made on the factory . The sake factory in hida has a long history and this is a family inherited company which enable you to have the rare opportunity to taste such great flavor which can’t have in big cities like Tokyo or Osaka. Again if you wanna to pay a visit to Takayama or hida and wanna to know the Japanese culture, please don’t miss this tour.

Great Sake Tasting & Tour

The sake tasting experience was amazing! Got to visit a brewery in a very small town. The production seems to be a mix of traditional & modern production methods. Tasted some fantastic sake, which was a quality I've never had before.

Operatørens svar

Dear Naveen, Thanks for coming to both our tours in this spring. I still remember what we talked during the tour. That is right. You actually tasted the greatest sake in the world! As I told you, the sake brewery is different from others in Hida region in terms of facilities to make sake all year round. Glad to hear that you loved the part too. Hope you will have another great sake experience in US. If you want to taste the special one again, the door will be always open! Warm Regards, Dai

A nice homely sake factory tour and tasting experience 🍶

Dai is a fun and knowledgeable tour guide, he knows his sake well. I asked him all kinds of questions since I am very curious about the sake process and he was able to answer all with clarity and panaché! Tenryo brewery has a rich history and goes about its work in a heartfelt manner. There's rooms with large barrels storing the sake and steamers and washers for the rice. They have kept up with modern processes and are one of the few to produce sake in the warm climates when it's primarily a cold weather production process. Sake tasting was fun as well and we got to try out some Doburoku and Muroka as well (unfiltered, unpasteurized, a stronger taste). Some of them were smooth as water and a pleasure to get thru

Operatørens svar

Dear Sid, Thanks for coming to the sake tour and write a great review on the experience. It was my honor to answer your questions. You were really keen on sake brewing and glad to hear that you were satisfied with my answer. You also found your favorite sake so you can properly order what you want to drink in different situations. Hope you will learn and taste a lot kinds of sake in Japan. Thank you so much and see you again! Warm Regards, Dai
