Very good guide and tour. Caves are very interesting. Car was comfortable. Caves andra e fee not included but minimal
Amazing place that gives you an impressive glance of what were the roots of Indian culture. It's a perfect place to go with kids, as paths are easy to follow, if you don't mind several stairs. Monkeys everywhere, it's hard to realize it's in the middle of the city. We rented a car that waited for us outside the caves from the Hotel, and worked smoothly.
Led by great guide naturalist Mehul Dedhia, we enjoyed a day hiking in the Sanjay Gandhi Natl Park. The site is a sprawling group of over 100 caves spread across a hill. There are lots of steps if you want to see many of the caves, but well worth the hike to see a mix of natural and carved caves, Buddhist carvings, ornate columns, and sculptures. Well worth a visit and within a half to full day excursion.

Chetan picked us up at our hotel promptly at 830am. We had a separate driver, so Chetan was able to give us a lot of background information on the way to caves. Once we got to the caves, there were many monkeys near the entrance. The entrance fee was very small that we had to pay ourselves. We saw about 6 of the most significant caves out of 100 total caves and Chetan did a great job with describing their history and significance. We were returned to the hotel at about 1130am as promised. Great excursion!

I was looking for a tour that would take me not too far from the city of Mumbai, while still allowing me to discover something other than the usual tourist spots. This tour was perfect for that! At the half-day mark, it's easy to fit into a business trip, and easy to schedule around other visits if you have a full day to fill! There's a reason why it starts early, and you probably guessed it: it can get pretty hot towards mid-day! Since you're going to walk for a while, an early morning start is the way to go. Thankfully, the car ride stops pretty close to the actual caves, so no need to hike. Also, even though there are 110 caves in total, you only visit a few of them, up to number 45 or so, so not to the top completely. The ones we visited were enough to cover the historical importance of the site, and see a good variety of the caves used by Buddhist monks living there. The guide was very knowledgeable. He was mindful of the pace I had, was open to taking breaks and such if needed, and gave a perfect amount of information: enough to make it interesting and want to ask questions, but not too much that your brain stops listening. The driver that ferried us from my hotel to the site and back was also very good and handled traffic well. I would recommend this tour!

We had a fantastic time on the Kanheri Caves tour. Our guide, Miss Jerroo, was absolutely wonderful.
