Jaisalmer Fort er det næst ældste fort i Rajasthan, bygget i 1156 e.Kr. af Rajput Rawal (hersker) Jaisal, hvorfra det stammer sit navn, og stod på krydset mellem vigtige handelsruter (inklusive den gamle silkevej). Fortet har palads, jain templer, city view.its et levende fort, der har 4000 indbyggere. masser af huse, hoteller, restauranter.
Nathmal ki Haveli, Jaisalmer er en sent arkitektur fra det 19. århundrede, der engang blev brugt som premierministerens hus. Det er berømt for sin ekstraordinære arkitektur og betragtes som den bedste i Jaisalmer. Der er tilsyneladende en interessant historie bag det. Handlerne i Jaisalmer byggede nogle af de mest udsmykkede boliger nogensinde. Patwon Ki Haveli er lavet af Jaisalmer sandsten, disse er prydet med jaalier og detaljerede facader. Det mest dygtige stenhuggeri udføres på ydersiden, da de var et show af rigdom mere end noget andet. Den største og mest udsmykkede af havelierne er Patwon-ki-Haveli, et sæt af fem huse ved siden af hinanden, bygget af fem Jain-brødre i første halvdel af 1800-tallet. Harish is a very knowledgeable about Jaisalmer having been born and raised in Jaisalmer. He took us to all the city highlights and bazaars. Harishji took us along for a 5 hour tour of the Jaisalmer Fort & surrounding attractions such as Nathmal & Patwon ki Haveli. With his amazing story telling ability & sense of humour, we had an enriching download of Jaisalmer’s history, got an amazing tour of the fort including a panaromic view from a cafe, details of the beautiful jain temple in fort premises, a taste of the famed Kachori & Ghotwa and also the story of Satyajit Ray shooting his famous “Sonar Kella” ! Harish is a fantastic guide. He took us through an excellent walk inside the Jaisalmer Fort pointing out noteworthy sites and providing the right amount of information to make the walk interesting. Harish also knows the best places inside the fort where you can take a short break, use a restroom or sip on a drink while you refresh yourself. He took us to the intricately carved Jain temples, the wonderful havelis as well as Bada Bagh to see the cenotaphs amazingly lit up in the rays of the setting sun. Harish is fluent in English, articulate and knowledgeable and we had a wonderful day exploring Jaisalmer with him. An added benefit with Harish, is that he is an excellent photographer and he took some great snaps capturing the memories from this trip which we would always cherish.

If you keen to explore local sweets/snacks , he will also take you to popular shops where locals eat. 4. We needed taxi for our last day transfer to Jodhpur and he arranged that too for us at a good price. 5.
