Efter at have kørt cirka halvanden time (tiderne afhænger af dit hotelplacering). I løbet af denne første fase vil jeg tale med dig om rækken af begivenheder, der førte til, at Frankrig blev besat af nazisterne i 1940. Vi vil derefter tale om planlægningen og forberedelsesoperationerne til landingen den 6. juni 1944 og til sidst diskutere bedrifterne af de 225 mand fra oberst Rudders anden rangerbataljon.
Vi stopper i hjertet af Omaha Beach i Saint-Laurent sur mer, hvor du kan tage nogle billeder, og jeg vil foreslå nogle restauranter, så du kan spise en hurtig frokost, inden du tager til vores næste stop.
Den amerikanske kirkegård Colleville sur mer er det mest besøgte sted på landingsstrandene. Vi stopper for at se, hvis du ønsker det, en kortfilm, som hylder nogle soldater, der døde i kamp under slaget ved Normandiet. På dette sted vil det også være muligt at besøge et lille erindringsmuseum. Vi vil derefter gå med respekt blandt de 9387 grave af de helte, der døde for at befri Europa.
Ved Longues-sur-Mer kan vi stoppe for at se kasmaterne, som stadig er vært for de 155 mm kanoner, der udgør en del af den berømte Atlantvold, der blev installeret i Europa af nazisterne fra 1942.
Vi stopper ved Arromanches les Bains for at se resterne af den kunstige havn installeret af de allierede i de første dage af angrebet. Her vil jeg igen forklare jer planlægningen og installationen af dette gigantiske sted, der er nødvendigt for at forsyne den allierede hær.
Hvis du ønsker det, vil vi vende tilbage til dit hotel langs landingsstrandene til den østlige del af angrebet, og vi vil således være i stand til at krydse Benouville-broen omdøbt til Pegasus-broen til ære for en kommando fra den sjette luftbårne britiske division, som heroisk bemægtigede sig plads natten mellem den 5. og 6. juni 1944. Vi kører derefter tilbage til dit hotel.

We had an amazing tour with Quentin. He arrived on time and we went from there! He was so knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. He toured us around and gave us ample time to explore. His video helped set the tone for the whole day. It was truly a moving experience that I will forever remember.

Gilles is a very knowledgeable and professional tour guide, that we highly recommend for tours of the Le Havre and Normandy area. His knowledge of the World Wars is outstanding, and he shared information in a very easily understood way. Our party of six was unanimous in our appreciation for a tour well done. His English was excellent, his car was first class, and he was onetime and delivered the tour just as promised. We've enjoyed several excellent private tours but this tour was by far one of the best.

I booked this tour long ago and was looking forward to it with great anticipation. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Giles and Marcus were wonderful and even brought buttery croissants along. I learned more history in one day than I did all throughout high school. Thank you for a great day.

Gilles and his team were absolutely amazing!!!! We had 8 people total and two very comfortable, clean, well stocked cars (food and beverages), that made our trip from the cruise port to Normandy very relaxing. Along the way, Gilles told us about the history leading up to the Normandy invasion which was so very informative, even as a HS History teacher myself! The other car was able to hear all the info as well due to his communication set up…it was wonderful!!! We stopped at the Point du Hoc first and received his guided tour along the way! After that, he arranged lunch for our group that was super delicious! Next stop was Omaha Beach, then the cemetery, the Mulberry Harbors and the Atlantic Wall, finishing off with the gun emplacements!!!! It was absolutely an amazing day!!!! I can’t tell you how highly I recommend this tour!!!! All 8 people in our group agreed that this was their favorite tour on our 2 week British Isle cruise!!!

Gilles is amazing. What a great person! Our train trip to Caen had an unexpected incident on the track which caused us to have to go back to LeHavre. He drove there and picked us up. He brought croissant for the whole family. He had a smile on his face and truly enjoyed the day with us. Very accommodating, very friendly. I would not tour with anyone else after this! Trusted with my whole family including a 10 year old and he did not disappoint! Cannot say enough nice things about the tour and how informative and fun it was. I got to go inside a German Gun emplacement and stand on the actual beach where it happened and look toward the shore. Bucket list items get checked off here. Life changing! Merci Gilles!

Our guide was Gilles and he was phenomenal! A very intelligent, friendly and caring person. He provided us with so much historical facts and information during our entire excursion.
