A free Plovid tour belongs at the top of any visit to that city; and if Adi is leading it, take that one. It was the highlight of my time in Bulgaria. She knows the history cold, she clearly loves the place, and she keeps a group of strangers engaged the entire way. Old Town is where this really paid off. The buildings, the streets, and the views up there are full of stories, and Adi tied what we were looking at to the broader history of the city and the country, the Ottoman Empire, and the Soviets. Without her narrative I would have enjoyed everything I saw and understood none of it. That gap is the whole argument for taking the tour, and for going with Adi if you get the chance.
Interesting and humourous tour where you tip what you think it’s worth at the end. A great way to gather your bearings in Plovdiv and learn about the history and central area. Our guide Adi was great - excellent pace and mix of anecdotes. Thank you for sharing Plovdiv with us!
Very nice and informative tour.it was very hot but we were interested in all the information given by the guide and places to see.
I learned about this opportunity from a friend who recommended it to me! I must say that the experience was even better than expected! Alex was a passionate guide and made our visit to Plovdiv even more intense and interesting!
Velis is a great guide, he really enjoys what he is doing. You learn a lot.
Iliya was a genuinely enthusiastic guide. He had a great sense of humour and related well to everyone in the group. He told many stories but did not overload us with too many facts and figures but was able to give us the history of the area in an interactive way. It was a good mix of historical facts and fun facts. He was engaging and we came away having had a wonderful 2 hours of entertainment. He enhanced our view of Plovdiv. Jackie the dog came on the tour too- that was lovely for us to see!!Thank you!
I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Plovdiv and grateful that Adi still offered it to us when only two of us showed up! Adi was extremely knowledgeable, good-natured and full of anecdotes and historical facts about the city of Plovdiv. Her love for the city really came through, and inspired me to explore more of Plovdiv after the tour. I also really appreciated the booklets she gave us with recommendations for where to eat, drink and what to see in Plovdiv - this helped me narrow down my itinerary for the rest of my stay.
We made the tour in English with Adi and for 2 hours we circulated through the most iconic places of the city, always accompanied by its historical context. In the end, we still had right to recommended restaurants/locations tips.
We had Adi as our amazing tourguide. She was funny, energetic and really interacted with us as an audience. She also was very patience, even with hackling crowd members who tried to correct her or take over. The 2,5 hours we walked flew by! It was amazing, really historical and even though you climb a whole hill, because you do it at an amazing relaxed pace, you're on top of it at no time. The admission is free, but they do take tips (which I highly recommend since they do this all for free).
Great tour with guide who was hip, amusing, friendly, charming , philosophical and knowledgeable. I highly recommend it to anyone coming into the city to get a sense of the history, culture and geography.
