Francesca was lovely to do the tour with. So friendly and knowledgeable. We loved meeting her and learning about her city.
Dear Sue, Doug, Shirley and Richard, thank you so much for be nice and interested visitors. I really enjoied the time we spent together!
The city has history but unfortunately it was mostly bombed out in WW2 —so there are no beautiful buildings to see.
Susan sorry but I haven't done any tour with Viator on 28th August.... Livorno can be an understated city if you compare that to Florence or Pisa because is most recent created one in Tuscany. In any case, as you have written and as it is explained in the description, the interesting part of this visit is based more on the history: the Medici family creating the port and the canal way to Florence, the different communities living together as a revolutionary idea for those times (the Greek, the German, the Armenian, the Jewish ones and others) than the creation of beautiful and artistic buildings: the port and the canal way net were the focus of its construction. But anyway we still see the old fortresses, the canal way, the port area, some of the oldest churches like Santa Caterina Even the reconstruction process after WWII is something important because part of the city was rebuilt from the scratch and some of the monuments you have seen, survived after the war.I hope to have trasmitted all these details and the "in between the lines" beauty and importance of my city in many fields.
Francesca's knowledge of Livorno was impressive and her passion for her city shone through. Our leisurely progress around the heart of this understated yet historically important town was filled with interesting and surprising information that was delivered in a welcoming and engaging manner. It was almost as though it was a long-standing friend talking to us. We had a great time (including the lunch at the recommended Ristorante L'Ancora!).
Dear Jerry and Linda, I am really glad you appreciated the tour together. Yes you are right, Livorno is an understated place but with an interesting history. Personally I had also the impression of talking with two good friends. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Francesca
The private walking tour was the highlight of our visit to Livorno! Francesca did an excellent job relaying the information about the history of the city, and the development of the diverse communities that reside cohesively there. She showed us how Livorno has changed over the years via photographs of the past, and we could witness how it compares to the present. Her depth of knowledge was deep, and the 2 hour tour flew by! Francesca was a great tour guide, and we highly recommend this tour!!!
Thank you Cindy! I was really nice to show you around my city! I am glad you enjoied it, a big hug to the whole group!
Francesca was everything we could wish in our guide, knowledgeable, caring, and engaging. She was waiting on time and expertly took us through the history and present of Livorno. The pace was nice and the conversation lovely.

Our tour with Francesca was wonderful! She was a very knowledgeable young lady who gave us a great tour in spite of the extremely hot weather! We highly recommend Francesca to anyone traveling in this area.
Thanks JoAnn, it was wonderful to show you around my city! A big hug to all the group!
We had a wonderful walk thru Livorno with our local guide Francesca. She took us through the center, viewed historic buildings, went to the harbor and we’re able to board the Amerigo Vespucci ship which was in port. We viewed the old fort and the canal district which is where my great-grandmother most likely lived in the 1860s. Much of the city was bombed during WWII, but could see the reconstruction and new developments with the cruise industry. She was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. I was so happy to have booked this trip.
Thank you so much for these words! I am happy because Livorno is a place that we discover "between the lines". And I was really happy to visit again the "Amerigo Vespucci", always beatiful to be on board!
Francesca was very knowledgeable and brought the historical significance of Livorno to life. She was warm and friendly and took great care of us. Communication was excellent and she even booked our restaurant for lunch and ended our tour there. Couldn’t ask for more.
Claire and Andrew just thanks! Really pleased to show you around and I am sure you enjoied the day!
Francesca is just a lovely person with a vast amount of knowledge about Livorno. She was kind and thoughtful even as flexible. It was a great experience and we highly recommend her to get the real city known.
Dear Niels and Inge it has been a pleasure to see my city with you and to have a nice exchange during the visit! I could recommend you as clients too! Thanks for the nice evening and take care!
