På denne tur med en privat guide lærer du værkstedet og malerens sidste hus at kende Joaquín Sorolla, sammen med sine midlertidige udstillinger. Sorolla-museet har også de vigtigste værker af kunstneren, klassificeret i forskellige kategorier. Det er et af de smukkeste og mest hjemlige museer i Madrid, samt et af de bedst bevarede huse i Europa. Bygningen blev omdannet til museum efter hans enkes død. Designet af Enrique María Repullés, blev det erklæret et aktiv af kulturel interesse i 1962. Hovedrummene er stadig møblerede som de var i kunstnerens levetid, herunder Sorollas store, veloplyste atelier, hvor væggene er beklædt med hans lærreder. Andre rum bruges som gallerier til at vise Sorollas malerier, mens rummene ovenfor er et galleri til særudstillinger. Gå ikke glip af dette unikke hjørne af Madrid!

Unfortunately the Madrid house museum is closed for restoration but if you want to see the works of this painter you can come to Valencia where his beautiful paintings are exhibited in an exhibition set up by the "Banking Foundation" that I visited today. They are expected to return to Madrid in late April 2026.

The tour guide cancelled via email the night before the tour. I saw the cancellation at midnight and was able to buy tickets direct from the venue. The audio guide available there was excellent. You don't need a guide for this museum.

Carla was an excellent guide, she knew so much about Sorolla. The house is beautiful and the paintings and sculptures were wonderful. It was also great to see how the family lived in the house, the old photos etc were so interesting.

Knowledgeable and friendly guide . Beautiful gem of a museum . Quite small but great if you love the work of Sorolla. Well worth a visit.

Was there on Tuesday 05/04: closed floor without explanation, part of the promised works not present or not visible (upstairs?). Coming from Bordeaux on purpose, and although the place is superb, I was disappointed.
