Ek Balam is an amazing place, and Miguel is a superb driver and guide. We had a private tour and that made it extra special as he customized the tour just for us. It’s one of the few (or only) ruins you can still climb, and three of us were adventurous enough to do that. And the cenote was both gorgeous and FUN — and I loved that they had life jackets because I’m not so good at treading water. I hope they Miguel a raise — he is one of the best guides EVER!
Long day but well worth it to see Mayan culture and the ruins
Alejandro et Tony were amazing! We really enjoyed our day. I recommend this tour. It’s a long day of course, but every part of it is interesting. The guides were funny and taught us a lot of things, but also they were available to answer our questions
Juan, Al and Raul of Ekinox Tours did an amazing job of guiding us for a full day of entertainment. Our day started from the Royalton Riviera Hideaway resort near Cancun. The Chichen Itza sacred area was unbelievable and Juan’s passion in teaching everyone it’s history was top notch! After 2 hrs at Chichen Itza, we ate delicious tacos at a local village restaurant and was entertained by local dancers with their ancient sounds and movements. From there we swam at the Ik Kil centone which was absolutely an amazing experience! Shopping at a village was our final experience of the day. All in all, an excellent day trip I highly recommend!!!!
This is the worst tour company and tour you will ever experience. They do nothing but sell, sell, sell. Donate to this, the Mexican Mayans are repressed so give them your money, you are a bad person if you don’t give more, but more, donate more! For three hours I’ve listened to this guide make up 1/2 truths from google about what this place is about, what the Mayan people live like, etc… He literally said lie and lie. The lunch stop at the “Mayan village” was just a place owned by Jose of Baktum tours. It is NOT a Mayan village and your money is NOT going to help the indigenous poor people. Run away from Baktum tours, don’t walk, RUN. Extremely packed bus, no Covid care in the world, horrible experience, horrible food, sell, sell, sell!
SCAM ALERT !!! This company cheats people and BEWARE ..not trustworthy We were asked to report at Lobby by 6:40 am and me and my family were down here at the lobby at 6:30AM . No one came to pick us up. Called the tour operator at 6:46 am only to be told that they came to the lobby and left . We stood at the front entrance a family of 4 and not one person entered the gated intercontinental Presidente —— Most unprofessional and unethical company !!! I called the company twice since 6:46 am and they keep saying that they came here , while the bell boy and the gate security both have denied any one coming in Be very careful of this company —
Departure after 45 minutes, time to make the call and charge everyone. 1st stop SHOPPING ... for a day of discovery it starts well ... quick visit to chichen itza is a shame, we spent more time in the Maya supermarket than visiting ... The guide, every 15 minutes, calls you either not to buy a trinket, food ... and the end point was on the return where he gave us a 5mn speech on their competence and insistently asking for a tip... in short really disappointing!!!
We booked this tour through Moon Palace Grand. The site is absolutely beautiful and definitely worth visiting. The excursion is poorly organized, however. Here are something things you should know: 1. This is a 12 hour day trip in all (8am-8pm) where you are on the coach for over 7 hours; first you visit clean restrooms and the tour guide will try to sell you "natural" mosquito repellant for $10 US; then you will go to a Cenote (warning: the water is cold and there are fairly big fish in the one I visited...so we didn't feel comfortable swimming in the cenote)...lunch is at the same property as the Cenote and it wasn't very good for vegetarians at all...by the time we reached Chichen it was around 2.30pm and very hot...I don't know why the tour doesn't begin at Chichen when it's cooler and less crowded? We were at Chichen for around 2 hours and then stopped off at a small town (Valladolid) on the way back. I had no idea we were going to do this and it felt pointless since you were basically there for 25 minutes and then had another 2 hour bus journey back to the hotel. It's an entire day gone. They could easily turn this into a shorter trip. If I did this again, I would arrange an external car. It would certainly be cheaper than the hotel rates of $180 per person. On top of this, you are expected to tip the guide and the driver.
Really great day, very tiring but with plenty of water you will get through it! Mayan village was beautiful, people were very welcoming - food was great! Chichen Itza is stunning, so much history and the tour guides are full of very interesting information about the ruins. Extremely hot at Chichen Izta so I repeat - PLENTY of water for the entire day! A dip in a cenotes is the perfect way to end the day, refreshing and relaxing! Our tour guide, Jorge, was absolutely wonderful in every way, very welcoming, knowledgeable and funny! Made the day much better 😁. Only thing that I would change - a little breakfast snack en route in the morning! Thank you for a brilliant day guys!
Overall an amazing experience. Our tour guide, Juan Tun, speaks 6 languages and knows everything about the history of the ruins. Best tour guide ever!!! Ryan R.
