Det er et lille og meget smukt kloster med runde tårne kronet med spidse teltformede kupler. Klosteret ligger over den barske Rioni-flod og er begravet i kystvegetation. Ifølge legenden blev klostret bygget på det sted, hvor muslimske aggressorer henrettede David og Konstantin Mkheidze, georgiske fyrster, som nægtede at acceptere islam. I en lille klosterhal på en eminens er der en stor rektangulær ark med de fromme fyrsters helligdomme, der er kanoniseret af den georgiske kirke. Motsameta tiltrækker skarer af turister med en ældgammel overtro: Hvis man kravler tre gange under arken og fremsætter et ønske, mens man rører ved helligdommen, vil prinserne David og Konstantin give det. Tsaren Bagrat III rekonstruerede kirken i det 10. århundrede. Bygningen blev rekonstrueret igen i det 19. århundrede.
Gelati-klosteret ligger i Imereti-regionen. Klostret blev grundlagt af David Bygmesteren i 1106. Vi læser i hans testamente: "Klostret forblev til min begravelse og for mine børns krypt for evigt, og jeg vil tage evig smerte, så må min søn Dimitri fuldføre byggeriet". Her ligger Georgiens største konge begravet. Ensemblet omfatter Jomfru Himmelfarts hovedkirke, St. George's Church, St. Nicholas Church, klokketårn, akademi og hegn. Gelati Kloster var det største kulturelle og uddannelsesmæssige center. Gelati-komplekset er inkluderet på listen over UNESCOs verdensarvssteder.
Tskhrajvari ('Ni kors') er muligvis det mest spektakulære udsigtspunkt i hele Georgien, og absolut blandt de bedste dagsvandringer nær Kutaisi. Tskhrajvari er et ortodoks pilgrimssted og udsigtspunkt beliggende nær Nakerala-passet, lige på kanten af Vestgeorgiens Imereti- og Racha-Lechkhumi-regioner. På 1.500 meter over havets overflade giver det en utrolig udsigt over de større Kaukasus-bjerge, inklusive Ushbas tvillingtoppe. På en klar dag kan du se helt ud til Sortehavet. Vandreturen starter bagved den forladte betonsvævebanestation. Straks begynder du at gå op, men i en meget svag stigning. Stien er ikke strengt markeret, men det er ret indlysende, hvor du skal hen. Hvis du er i tvivl, så følg de hvide klipper. Udsigtspunkter åbner sig langs hele banen. Shaori Reservoir er et af de mest attraktive steder i Racha. På vej til Racha kan du ikke passere reservoiret, som blænder dig med sit landskab.
Nikortsminda Cathedral er en georgisk-ortodoks kirke, beliggende i Nikortsminda, Racha-regionen i Georgia. Nikortsminda blev bygget i 1010-1014 under Bagrat III af Georgiens regeringstid[1] og blev repareret i 1534 af Kong Bagrat III af Imereti. Tre-etagers klokketårn ved siden af katedralen blev bygget i anden halvdel af det 19. århundrede. Fresker inde i katedralen stammer fra det 17. århundrede. Katedralen følger en kortarmet rektangulær korsplan og har et kort segment mod vest. Katedralens facader er beklædt med glat tilhuggede sten. Dekorationer omfatter ubrudte arkaturer og forskellige rige ornamenter, herunder flerfigurerede fortællende relieffer og episoder. Nikortsminda har blandt de smukkeste udsmykninger af alle georgiske kirker og katedraler, da flere forskellige stilarter kan ses. Katedralen er på den tentative liste for status som UNESCOs verdensarvsliste.

The tour was very diverse. We enjoyed beautiful views and visited a 2nd-century monastery. We also went fishing together. Our guide gave us plenty of time for everything; he's very knowledgeable.
Irakli is a very knowledgeable, kind, and passionate guide. We had a great time on this off-the-beaten path tour to the remote and beautiful Racha region, with a good mix of mountain/lake views, hike, and monasteries. He also was quite flexible and added optional secondary stops. He was also a great, smooth driver and gave us many helpful recommendations. Highly recommended!

Georgian Voyage- Can highly recommend this unique tour experience with a local and small guide company! This was the perfect itinerary focused on the mountains and monasteries with the bonus combination of a mini hike plus walk and a food tour thanks to our wonderful free flowing interaction with Iracli. Kudos to Iracli for picking us up from our hostel on the outskirts of Kutaisi 💯 He patiently explained the history of the various monasteries we visited and gave us real deep insights into the differences among the regions within Georgia! Given we’re a relatively physically active couple, Iracli offered to hike with us to the top of the nine crosses mountain. He even included two bonus stops after the last stop since we vibed so well! We tasted local Racha delicacies in Ambroulari and then even took a detour to visit a waterfall on the route back to Kutaisi. To top it all, he’s an avid football fan so we watched the man united match together during the journey. In short, I’d highly recommend at least a day with him in Georgia to get the perfect local experience blended with fun 🤩

My son and I had an amazing experience visiting Racha region with Saba from Georgian Voyage. Our guide Saba went above and beyond to show the best of Racha region’s lakes, mountains, waterfalls and of course monasteries. It’s hard to believe how much travel he packed in a one day trip. Also, if you want a local guide to Georgian cuisine from the region, Saba knows all the best places to eat and pair with locally produced wines. We’ll definitely be back for multi-day hiking and skiing adventures. Highly recommended.
