Mød vores engelsktalende chauffør på dit hotel på en komfortabel Mercedes-Benz for at starte rejsen til den smukke Cortona: omgivet af stenmure, der går tilbage til etruskisk og romersk tid, sidder på toppen af en bakke omkring 600 meter (ca. 1968 fod) over havniveau. Denne dominerende stilling over dalen byder på en spektakulær udsigt fra hele byen af den omkringliggende dal og endda søen Trasimeno. Byen er blevet meget populær i det sidste årti takket være Frances Mayes bog, Under den toscanske sol (og filmen med Diane Lane), som er sat i Cortona; Hovedpersonen bliver straks forelsket i byen, dens folk og villaen Bramasole, som hun køber og retter sig på. Tid til afslapning eller udforske området, vil føreren foreslå de bedste ting at gøre.
Forlad klokken 11.30 for en lækker lys frokost på en familie vingård. Fortsæt derefter til Montepulciano på en afslappende 30 minutters kørsel på bakkerne omgivet af betagende landskaber .... selvfølgelig kan din chauffør stoppe bilen, når som helst du vil have, hvis du ønsker at tage billeder. Ankomst til den charmerende Montepulciano omkring 2 pm. Dette er en middelalderlig by med sjældne skønhed fulde af elegante renæssancespaladser, gamle kirker, charmerende pladser og skjulte hjørner. Montepulciano har fået stor opmærksomhed efter filmen af vampyrsagaen Twilight-efterfølgeren New Moon her og har set en bemærkelsesværdig stigning i besøgende. En tur gennem Montepulciano er den bedste måde at se byen og dens smukke vartegn på, samt nyde en fantastisk udsigt over det omkringliggende landskab dækket af vinmarker, der producerer den berømte Nobile, som er i stand til at smage i de mange vinbutikker, der ligger inden for byens mure.

What a wonderful way to experience Tuscany. Alex went above and beyond to make our day spectacular. Our tour guide was Massimo and he was terrific in several ways, the first of which was his careful and relatively slow driving. This made the travel quite comfortable, especially for our family members who volunteered for the van’s third row. From our perspective, Cortona is the nicest Italian town we visited, and the other way Massimo excelled was by letting us stay much longer instead of traveling on to Montepulciano as the tour design called for. So as Massimo returned us to our Villa, my family agreed that we very much enjoyed the day!

Alessandro was our guide and he expertly guided us through a visit to the charming Tuscan towns of Cortona & Montepulciano. Ours was a private tour and Alessandro was attentive to our wishes which allowed us to choose how much time to spend in each locale.
