Be sure to confirm the hike a day or two before your hike. Even though we got a confirmation message months ago, somehow our hike wasn’t on their schedule. After calling the company, they sent someone to do the tour, but he was an hour later than our scheduled start time. We did have a good hike, but this was not an easy hike as advertised. Our guide didn’t seem to know the options that were given in the Viator write-up. He did his best to figure out a trail that would work. We did appreciate the company’s willingness to pivot and make sure we still got a hike in today. I am not sure I would recommend the hike in early April, though. The snow overnight did make it quite slippery in some spots.
Dear Pam, thank you for your note. Over the winter we have implemented an automatic system to manage the bookings and resources. It looks there are still some errors to fix here. Thank you for your understanding as it took very short time to adjust. The selected hike option always includes flexibility, and the guide will decide the exact route after understanding from the travellers their expectations in close relation with the equipment and the weather taking into consideration your safety. It is true that there was a fresh layer of snow overnight and also the low clouds, so as the guide's tour report, the selected route offered you a pleasant day out that have included a mix of route, views and nature. A fresh layer of snow might rise in a few section the challenge but will also give an interesting reward at the end of the day. Also as it was a colder day then usual, complementary and for your comfort, we have prepared for you for the trail, a hot tea and fruits as snack. We hope these were a pleasant surprise.
Our guide was very nice and professional. Despite the suprisingly fallen snow on trail and fog that hided the best views, she made everything she could to provide us the best hiking experience as possible. She also took care of our safety by observing and making warning sounds for bears possibly moving around the area. During the hike we had also interesting discussions about the life in Romania. In overall great tour!
Our tour guide for the day was Ovidiu (Ovi). Initially, we planned an easy hike in the Fagaras mountains; however, due to abundant snow, we needed to change our plans. They provided several great alternatives (Sambata and Piatra Craiului, for instance). Our group really wanted to see the Fagaras mountains and requested to take the Transfagarasan cable car to Balea Lake for an easy hike in that area. We were thrilled they could accommodate our request. Ovi is a friendly and knowledgeable guide with many exciting adventure stories. He is also an excellent photographer and captured numerous fantastic photos of our group! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone seeking an easy day hike, especially considering their flexibility if the weather doesn't allow for the original plan. Thank you, Ovi, for accommodating our request and for the wonderful experience!
Beautiful hike in the Carpathian mountains with our excellent guide Radu. The view was spectacular and worth the hike. Sometimes challenging, but cannot express enough how beautiful it is. Radu was patient, an expert in his field, and a joy to hike with.
